The Product Development Manager will develop and maintain the new product development portfolio and program within Silvergate. This includes research, definition, and launch of dedicated new products and features along with overall management and solicitation of early-stage concepts for Silvergate and our clients. This person will be instrumental in the organization, evaluation, and evangelization of exciting new offerings which will shape the future of Silvergate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Responsible for identifying, defining, building, and successfully launching new products and features which address customer needs and position Silvergate for the future
  • Evaluates market dynamics including emerging technologies, opportunities, the competitive landscape, and threats
  • Responsible for defining target customer segments and anticipating their needs. Works closely with the business development and service delivery teams to gather data that is used for decision making
  • Responsible for defining key performance indicators for new products, monitoring results, and evaluating performance
  • Responsible for identifying and evaluating strategic partnerships that may be required to deliver products to customers
  • Responsible for ongoing evaluation, management, and enhancement to existing products
  • Collaborates with the executive team, legal, and compliance functions to obtain approval for new products from the appropriate regulatory agencies
  • Collaborates with software engineering and systems function to define new product requirements, create project plans, and deliver new products to customers
  • Collaborates with the marketing communications, service delivery, and sales teams to launch new products
  • Collaborates with FP&A function to model financial impact of products including pricing, customer adoption, revenues, expenses, and balance sheet impact
  • Engage with internal and external project managers from multiple organizations to assist in defining requirements, track project progress, identify risks, communicate status, and assess potential impacts to the business
  • Proactively develop and maintain technical knowledge in specialized areas, current trends, and best practices; leverage expertise to produce solutions that facilitate exceptional performance
  • Maintain current knowledge of all federal and state laws and regulations, along with the Bank’s policies and procedures

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • At least 5+ years’ experience building and leading within a product function
  • Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams to deliver products that solve problems for customers
  • Expertise in emerging technologies and how they can be applied to existing bank processes in a safe and compliant manner
  • Strong knowledge in all phases of the project management lifecycle with a focus on project planning including project schedule development, project change control, risk management practices, and project documentation
  • Strong organization skills including demonstrated tenacity for following up with team members and leadership on outstanding items
  • Attention to detail, ability to translate technical specifications into business-friendly terminology, and the ability to effectively communicate to a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Understanding of regulated financial services industry preferred
  • Understanding of digital currency and blockchain technology preferred

BANK SECRECY ACT
Responsible for adhering to the reporting and recordkeeping requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering rules and regulations, observing economic sanctions by prohibiting transactions as specified by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), following the bank’s customer identification program (CIP) rules, observing all Bank policies and procedures relating to BSA, OFAC, CIP, and related acts, and participation in ongoing related training.

Remote work environment. The Product Development Manager must have the ability and willingness to work remotely and collaborate in a geographically distributed environment.
