Printing Bindery Machine Operator
Landover, Maryland
Monday - Friday, Day Shift, Full Time

Must have prior experience in print production and distribution environment.

Bindery Operators provide interface with GSDPM’s Bindery/Distribution Technicians, Production Coordinator, and other production staff to receive, manage, produce and deliver work requests in the Printing Bindery Distribution area.
These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Interpret job tickets and work requests and select appropriate binding and distribution techniques according to job specifications and equipment.
• Set up, adjust and operate various bindery and distribution equipment (e.g., paper cutters and trimmers, folders, creasers, collators, laminators, stitchers, drills, multiple-station inserters, multiple-head labelers, tabbers, paper-tape banders, document stringers, etc.) for completion of work requests
• Operate advanced and complex binding lines, including perfect binders and multiple-station stitcher.
• Provide manual hand-insertion of work into envelopes when automated solutions are not viable.
• Ensure proper functioning of equipment. Perform basic equipment maintenance, minor repairs and report major equipment malfunctions and need for service.
• Track inventory of supplies, consumables and tools, reporting any deficiencies.
• Maintain a neat and clean work area, ensuring that standard safety regulations are met.
• Record daily production figures, job information and time accounting into EFI shopfloor system.
• Guide less-experienced staff on specific techniques and equipment pieces, ensuring work procedures are followed and appropriate quality is delivered on time.

- Receive and process supplies and materials - accounting, moving, rotating, storing and staging materials from delivery personnel and as directed by Materials Management staff.

• Participate in cross-training
• Lift heavy boxes, or paper when needed 30 to 50 pounds
• Climbing a ladder
• COVID vaccination is a requirement, candidate must present proof of vaccination
• Helpful prior experience may include: Print Operator, Publishing House, Binder, Binding, Scan Operator, Scanner Operator, Bindery Machine Operator, RR Donnelley, Linemark Printing, Minuteman Press

The Landover Service Center (LSC) is a full service, high-end print facility, with full prepress, press and bindery capabilities, producing commercial quality print work. Contractor is expected to provide expert level, high-end binding and finishing of documents, publications and promotional material for Bank Group clients. As the final stop in the print production workflow, Bindery/Distribution is key to quality products being delivered on time. Staffing in this area must be driven to deliver excellence, putting client needs at the forefront. The Distribution function provides addressing and envelope insertion of mailings that will be handed to the Bank’s Mail & Shipping service. Occasional overtime is required for ensuring delivery of priority work on weekdays and weekends.

"The pay range for this position starts at $17.22; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonus opportunities may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.”
