St. Mary's County Recreation & Parks is hiring lifeguards for two aquatics facilities - the Wellness & Aquatics Center in Leonardtown and the Great Mills Swimming Pool in Great Mills.

Qualifications: Must be currently certified as a Red Cross Lifeguard or willing to complete certification course.

In addition: Candidates must have a passion for working with the public and flexible schedule. Immediate openings for all seasons.

Duties: Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of all pool patrons both on the pool deck and in the water. Required to sit and stand for long periods of time in all types of weather. For Great Mill Swimming Pool: Must be willing to be outdoors during the summer and able to work in an indoor environment September through May with some noise and humidity. At times, lifeguards will be required to serve as crowd control on the pool deck during peak usage times.
Lifeguards will be required to maintain proper pool chemistry during their shift and satisfactorily complete daily cleaning tasks before, during and after chair shifts.

Hours: Varies. Pool operates 7 days a week from 6:00am till 8:00pm Monday-Saturday; and 12:00-6:00pm on Sundays. Work is schedule in various shifts throughout the day. Additional daytime and weekend hours are available during summer months with less during the winter months.

Work Location: Great Mills Swimming Pool and/or the Wellness & Aquatics Center on the Leonardtown campus at College of Southern MD.
