Job Summary

The Drafter/Designer will be responsible for creating engineering drawings from field sketches and drawing templates using AutoCAD. Work must adhere to PM&A’s established design specifications and standards. Candidate may be required to participate in field work, including but not limited to, measuring, and providing accurate sketches, taking site photos and notes, completing site audit forms.
Responsibilities:
  • Create construction drawings using AutoCAD
  • Independently review and understand project source documents (field notes, RFDS, scoping notes, photos, etc.) and accurately apply them to AutoCAD drawings
  • Modify construction drawings based on rough sketches, redlines, written and verbal communication
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Project Manager (scope of work, deadlines, questions, concerns, etc.)
  • Learn new technical material quickly
  • Take pride in your work. Double check your own work. Make every effort to not repeat past mistakes.
  • Multitask between different projects and teams as needed per workload demands
  • Meet or exceed scheduled project deadlines supplied by Project Manager
  • Track assigned tasks and be aware of project priorities based on due dates provided
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality/efficiency and participate in their implementation
  • Assist with training other drafter/designers

Qualifications:
  • 1-4 years of direct work with AutoCAD and construction drawings preparation required
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD. An AutoCAD test is required as part of the interview process.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe required
  • Willing and able to travel and perform outdoor field work in all weather conditions required.
    • Travel may involve a flight, rental car, and up to a week in a hotel.
    • Field work may include sites with gravel and dirt roads in various conditions.
  • Ability to drive long distances up to but not limited to 100 miles away a day.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, but also capable of working independently without much oversight required
  • Technical, Associate, or similar two-year degree/certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, architectural, mechanical preferred
  • Work experience in a professional environment preferred
  • Experience in the telecom industry is preferred

Travel:
  • Up to 25% travel
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company insurance policy.


Position Type
:
This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
