Painters work with coatings & linings of above ground storage tanks and pipeline maintenance. As part of a painter's daily activities, they demonstrate the proper use of brushes, rollers, and spray equipment as required.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
Paint walls, equipment, buildings, bridges, and other structural surfaces, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
May remove old paint to prepare surface prior to painting.
May mix colors or oils to obtain desired color or consistency.
Apply primers or sealers to prepare surfaces, such as bare wood, metal, piping, fixtures, structures and equipment for finish coats.
Erect scaffolding and swing gates, or set up ladders, to work above ground level. Selects and mixes coating additives to thin or promote drying and adhesion.
Scrape, sand, putty, caulk, and prepare surfaces for painting; apply sealers, primers, stains, lacquers, and varnishes
Ensure proper maintenance of brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other painting equipment

Qualifications:
Experience
Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation. Has knowledge of application techniques.
Must be at least 18 years old.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
4+ Years of Painter/Blaster Experience

Work Environment
Respiratory protection is common and required in many applications.
Disassemble paint and sandblasting equipment and cleans equipment, using solvent, wire brushes, and dry cloth.
Plan work and select proper tools. Work at heights without fear.
Communication Skills: Ability to effectively verbally communicate directions from craft supervisors, and respond to questions from managers and fellow workers.
Mathematical skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Work requires sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and hand-eye-foot coordination to perform all essential tasks, including operating and using all tools and equipment, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, reaching in front of body and overhead while holding objects, walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time, climbing and working from ladders and scaffolds
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
Will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot – cool/cold. Occasional rain.
Will work at different elevations.
Dusty environment.
Noise levels will be moderate to high.
Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools.
People standing, walking, sitting, signalling and talking.
Bells, whistles and alarms.
