Job Summary

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) associate will work closely with program units in Global Ministries and UMCOR to provide M&E support for projects that have been funded through grantmaking. This will include but is not limited to utilizing the established Results Frameworks to collect, aggregate, assess and analyze monitoring data for Global Health and Agriculture projects primarily based in the African region. The associate supports established monitoring systems and procedures and assist in the creation of knowledge by compiling, synthesizing, and analyzing relevant information, developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with procedures. The M&E Associate reports to the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation while working closely with other members of the M&E unit, and liaising with Global Health and other Office of the General Secretary staff.


Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for developing and rolling-out M&E tools, policies, and procedures required to monitor and analyze Global Health and Agriculture projects
  • Develop systems and tools for capacity building of local partners around M&E, which includes coaching and supporting partners on understanding monitoring indicators, data collection, and analyzing results.
  • Provide support (and in some cases, leadership), in evaluations carried out related to Global Health and Agriculture in tandem with the M&E unit.
  • Provide day-to-day M&E support to M&E staff assigned to reviewing UMCOR and Global Ministries grants, which includes providing relevant data for grant reviews and analysis for project improvement
  • Performs other M&E duties as assigned.
  • M.Sc. In Applied Statistics, Economics, or related field with emphasis on Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in similar position(s).
  • Experience developing and/or implementing typical M&E systems for small to medium international development and/or relief programs.
  • Experience in leading program/project evaluations (quantitative and qualitative) in international development and/or relief settings.
  • Experience in Global Health and Agriculture program design would be a plus
  • Experience working for non-profits based in Africa and/or Asia


Competencies, Job Requirements and Other Specialized Knowledge

  • Designs and implements M&E systems of key programs/projects.
  • Develops systems and tools for M&E coaching at the local partner level
  • Carries out project level analysis of Global Health and Agriculture projects
  • Generates reports for M&E Unit, Program staff, Senior Leadership, and the Board as needed.
  • Sound data analysis skills with the use of appropriate statistical software for data analysis and visualization.
  • Working proficiency in French preferred.

The candidate must be able to analyze and evaluate information to resolve challenges/problems and identify alternative solutions to a problem.


Work Hours and Conditions

  • FLSA Status: F/T Exempt
  • Location: Remote
  • Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm (Monday – Friday with flexible start/end time) - Evening and weekend work/meetings as necessary, particularly during peak unit season.
  • May require work outside of standard business hours (to include weekends), particularly during peak unit season.
  • Sedentary office/computer/keyboarding/meeting work for extended periods of time.
  • Domestic and international travel as required.
