Safety:

  • Participate in daily pre-shift safety discussions
  • Participate in safety meetings
  • Keep work areas neat and orderly
  • Use all personal protective equipment when required
  • Understand and follow procedures for handling chemicals as stipulated in the Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of all the hydrometallurgy processes used for test work
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understand the operating, controlling, and monitoring of all pilot plant equipment
  • Fully understand each reagent/solution, their purpose, and the safety requirements involved per SDS
  • Skills in operating assigned equipment safely and efficiently
  • Ability to follow instructions

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, squat, and kneel for an extended period
  • Ability to safely lift 50lbs
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-traffic work environment
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform a workplace examination for areas defined by a shift leader
  • The Metallurgist Technician will support quality and manufacturing processes
  • Maintain specification data base for product testing requirements
  • Prior to operating equipment, conduct routine inspections to identify needed maintenance or repairs. If maintenance or a repair is needed immediately report the problem to your supervisor
  • Assists in reviewing new or enhanced metallurgic testing equipment and protocols
  • Collect samples throughout the plant as determined by the Lead Metallurgist
  • Understand and perform all necessary hydrometallurgy (Leaching, Precipitation, Solvent Extraction, Crystallization, Filtration, and Waste Neutralization) test work as outlined by the Metallurgist
  • Calibrate and set up equipment prior to analysis
  • Assist the laboratory personnel with sample preparation, analysis, and housekeeping when necessary
  • Document and communicate all the findings, data, and results of test work conducted
  • Adhere to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes
  • Other duties as assigned
