The Letcher County Sapling Center is looking for creative and fun members to add to our team! We are currently hiring for our Mental Health Associate (MHA) Position. Our MHA's will strive to provide quality counseling services to transition age youth (14-25) in a drop-in setting.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide screening, assessment and diagnostic impression interviews of consumers.
  • Provide individual and group counseling/therapy to consumers and families.
  • Provide psychosocial evaluations.
  • Provide treatment planning and termination summaries as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Provide consultation/education/emergency services.
  • Provide outpatient appointment and follow-up with appropriate service agencies as required.
  • Work with Consumer Access Specialist to ensure daily schedule is full in order to meet consumer needs and required professional time standards.
  • Participate with process improvement activities as directed by program needs.
  • Complete service documentation and billing entries within 24 hours of service delivery.
  • Participate in skill enhancement activities, both as participant and provider. (i.e. Attendance at in-services/workshops)
  • Obtain required continuing education hours and other training as necessary to meet state, agency and credentialing requirements.
  • Provide backup for other clinicians as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Human Service Field, with relevant work experience.
  • Plan to attend a Master's program in Human Service Field by 2024.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Much of the work can be performed in an office environment or community setting; must be able to maintain required caseloads and complete necessary Medicaid/Medicare billing documentation; work conditions may be stressful and fast-paced and require a person cane to prioritize and organize their tor to meet minimum billing requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / JOB HAZARDS:

  • Current TB skin test indicating no evidence of communicable disease.
  • Possible aggressive clients requiring use of CPI as needed.
  • Possible contact with bodily fluids.
  • Possible physical management (lifting, balancing, maneuvering)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires a clean drug screen prior to and randomly throughout employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Background checks are conducted prior to hire and updated annually.

EFFORT:

  • Must be able to understand and communicate with people from all socio-economic settings.
  • One must be able to use computers and other office equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks (notes, submitting tickets, completing documentation necessary for billing purposes, etc.). This position requires a person to have knowledge of computer programs such as word, EMRs, and be accurate in data entry/note-taking skills; these essential functions require a person to use manual dexterity and fine motor functions throughout one's daily activities.
  • One will be frequently sitting, standing, walking and stooping.
  • One must have reliable transportation, maintain a clean driving record, and maintain a driver's license and automobile insurance throughout employment.
  • Must be able to defuse potentially dangerous situations and remain calm in an emergency.
  • Must be able to utilize behavior management techniques and serve as a role model.
  • Must be able to interact in a warm compassionate manner; de-escalating verbally and/or physically abusive and aggressive clients while utilizing aggression control techniques to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the client, other clients, and employees within the department.
  • Must demonstrate strong qualities of maturity, patience, good communication, self-awareness, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be comfortable working in a structured environment with established treatment models.
  • Must successfully complete agency, state, and any other regulatory required training.
  • Must be able to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with suicidal, mentally, emotionally, and/or psychologically disturbed clients in person and over the telephone.
