Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Opportunity

This opportunity is full-time at 36 hours per week and offers full benefits. There is opportunity for overtime and to cover various shifts if interested.

Current Available Shift:

  • Three weekdays 7am - 3pm, plus every other Saturday & Sunday 7am - 7pm
  • Three weekday evenings 3pm - 11pm, plus every other Saturday & Sunday either 7am - 7pm or 7pm - 7am
  • Three weeknights 11pm - 7am plus every other Saturday & Sunday 7pm - 7am

Our 164-bed inpatient services for adolescents through senior adulthood offers comprehensive and individual assessments, psychiatric evaluation and medication stabilization, daily group therapy and personalized aftercare planning. We also offer a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program to ensure the continuum of care for our patients. POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Provide and assist in direct patient care as prescribed by the physician and the treatment team.
  • Provide medical management and re-assessment of patients.
  • Provide for environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population.
  • Supervise Mental Health Technicians (MHTs).
  • Document patient care, ensure that data is accurate, and that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates.

LPNs may be asked to assist with MHT duties as needed. Below are the MHT duties:

  • Maintains safety and security of the patients, visitors and staff through close observation and monitoring of patients, maintaining optimal physical proximity, remaining alert at all times, and using analytical forethought to anticipate potentially volatile or unsafe situations and proactively intervene.
  • Completes accurate, timely and legible documentation on patients behavior as outlined by policy, reports, observations to relevant staff and makes recommendations based on observations. Assists in preparation of other behavioral reports as required.
  • Contributes to the effective implementation of individual treatment plans of patients through; supervision, positive interaction and role modeling and appropriate documentation of observed behaviors.
  • Facilitates patient groups on a variety of topics (materials provided by facility) in a productive and therapeutic manner.

Education:

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.

Experience:

  • One year inpatient psychiatric experience with adults and/or adolescents preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current NC State Licensed Nurse (or compact state)
  • AHA CPR & First Aid

Skills:

Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients. Ability to accurately administer medications and treatments. Ability to monitor and record response and side-effects to medications and treatments. Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures. Ability to assist with education of patients and families in medication and care management. Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.
