We are looking for cooks who can work the 11:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. shift as well as be available to work every other weekend/holiday.

1. Opens kitchen in the morning and accepts early deliveries. Prepares breakfast items for patient room service, cafe and catering. Bakes muffins, cookies and other related items for all areas. Receives and logs employee sick or late calls.

2. Prepares all soups, entrees, vegetables, starches and other related items based on cafe/diner, room service, and catering menus. Follows standardized recipes and daily production sheets and accurately records amounts produced. Delivers all food products to designated serving area in an established time frame and at the required temperature. Adequately completes next day's preparation assignments. Routinely tests food for quality, appearance, flavor, temperature, texture, color and doneness.

3. Follows established guidelines, recipes and procedures for age specific feeding and specialized diets including but not limited to Diabetic, Ketogenic, BMT, Sodium Restricted and Low Fat. Contributes to the preparation and execution of patient related food service such as Bader 5 buffets, Child life functions and Community Suppers.

4. Follows and monitors H.A.C.C.P. food preparation and storage procedures. Follows department policies and procedures for hand washing, hair restraints, cooling/reheating foods and taste testing.

5. Stores, holds and transports cold food items at 40°F or below and hot food items at 140°F or above. Tests food temperatures with approved food thermometer and records in log.

6. Wraps, labels, and dates all food items and stores in designated area in an organized manner. Follows F.I.F.O. principle of food rotation.

7. Cleans and sanitizes all food contact surfaces and equipment after every use to avoid contamination. Records ppm of sanitizer solution in designated log. Avoids cross contamination from raw to cooked and ready to eat foods via hands, equipment, utensils and cutting boards.

8. Maintains high levels of sanitation of all equipment, strictly adhering to department policies and procedures, Health Dept. codes and J.C.A.H.O. regulations.

9. Follows department safety standards to minimize hazards and work related accidents.

10. Contributes to a positive working environment and promotes teamwork by taking initiative to improve overall quality and exceed customer expectations. Maintains clear communication channels and constructive, sensitive relationships with co-workers, supervisors, patients, customers, parents and all hospital staff.

1. Frequently lifting and carrying patients/children/objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds.

2. Occasionally lifting and carrying patients/children/objects weighing over 50 pounds.

3. Frequently stooping and bending.

4. Frequently reaching and grasping objects below, at, and above shoulder level.

5. Regularly pushing and/or pulling non-motorized equipment e.g., stretcher, food cart, etc. weighing over 50 pounds.

6. Regularly manipulating and using power equipment.

7. Regularly grasping and fine manipulation with hands.

8. Regularly proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.

9. Regularly standing.
