Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $53.220 - $68.670 - $84.121

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

This is a full-time position located in Kearny Mesa (San Diego County). Day shift position (7am to 3:30pm).

***Current California RN license is required as well as a bachelor's degree and California driver's license.***

What You Will Do
The purpose of this position is to ensure the clinical workflow of our system cardiovascular areas, including, but not limited to Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Cath Lab, Non-Invasive Cardiology, Cardiology, Inpatient, Operating Rooms, Cardiac Rehab, Data Registry, Revenue Cycle, Outpatient clinics, Clinical Research, and others as identified, are translated into Cerner Cardiovascular CVIS. Additionally, this position's purpose is to optimize information technology to enable our physicians and staff to have the right information, at the right place, at the right time to make a critical clinical decision for our patients.

This position is responsible for: 1) The implementation, training, evaluation, and support of the Cerner Cardiovascular CVIS applications in conjunction with the system-wide Cerner initiative; 2) The communication between Information Systems, Cardiovascular Service Line Senior Leadership, Sharp entity management teams and clinical users, physicians, and executives; 3) Creating high reliability systems and processes to automate and optimize data collection, processing, validating, and reporting, including but not limited to Cerner CVIS, data registries, and other Cardiovascular CVIS systems; 4) Monitoring application use and physician/staff education needs. Develops, supports, and activates downtime strategies in times of need. Participates in application development decisions. Secures and reports user input in design development. Acts as a Change Agent by managing the interdisciplinary process of capturing, defining and prioritizing pre and post implementation issues. Proactively identifies and coordinates clinical change management and workflow transformation processes. Reports and participates in the problem solving of clinical application issues both locally and at an enterprise level. Helps assess and recommend improvements to various business and clinical operations and work flow processes. Helps optimize the use of existing and new clinical information systems. Coordinates the collection and reporting of metrics defining benefits realization, and return on investment associated with Clinical Information Systems in conjunction with Clinical Effectiveness. Ensures, thorough delegation and management skills, investigational protocol compliance relative to data collection and scientific method. Provides strategic direction and management oversight to the team of clinical informatics specialists in the entity, as needed.

Required Qualifications
California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree required.
3 Years Cardiovascular experience.
Experience in cardiovascular clinical informatics at a health care institution of similar size and complexity.
Experience with High Reliability Organization (HRO), Six Sigma/LEAN, WorkOut, and CAP (Change Acceleration Process) and their integration into current Sharp's clinical and operation quality initiatives.
Driver's License - CA Department of Motor Vehicles -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree In Clinical Informatics is preferred.
3 Years Clinical informaticist experience working with Cerner.
Strong technical experience in medical informatics, health and medicine, computer science, and research methods.

Essential Functions

Application and user support
Collects, coordinates, and manages user issues, and expectations around development, functionality and outcomes. Solicits feedback on development, functionality, upgrades, planned downtime, and application and device performance.
Responsible for setting expectations around the development, operations, and outcomes for specific data requirements. Is the process owner to ensure that any changes in data requirements are successfully implemented into the information systems, and communicated to all stakeholders.
Collaborates with Sharp analytics team, CV related registries, and intermediaries to ensure accurate and timely data submissions. Solicits feedback from the clinical teams and data analysts from each Sharp entity to make sure the process to input data is maximized to provide optimum productivity, patient confidentiality, and system security and are in accordance with the organization's long-range goals.
Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer applications and to ensure the Information Systems are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice.
Is a member of the CV IS Steering Committee with the purpose of reporting data process initiatives and results, and to coordinate feedback to and from the committee on the overall performance of data strategies.
Coordinates feedback to and from the committee to clinical user groups in the entity.
Collaboration
Works with the IS project managers to understand overall IS project time lines and identify where there may be physician impacts.
Provides feedback to IS project managers to improve the overall implementation and adoption of changes.
Communication and teamwork
Works with the Sharp Clinical Effectiveness Analytics team, IS teams, and hospital clinical teams to promote a cross-functional team approach to data analytics.
Identifies strategic relationships with nursing and ancillary management, as well as Med staff office, HIM and other stakeholders.
Communicates effectively and contributes to positive interdepartmental relationships particularly between technical staff and the clinical staff.
Builds relationships with peers, and staff. Is able to insure accountability relative to timelines, work product in support of reporting metrics and protocol compliance.
Participates on the Evidence based medicine committee, coordinating feedback to and from that committee to the clinical user groups in the entity.
General support
Other duties as indicated in support of the efficient and effective operations of the EMR system and in the promotion of effective user adoption and success in deployment of systems.
Leadership
Supervises a team of Clinical Informatics Specialists, where applicable.
Leads change efforts with the physicians utilizing CAP techniques and tools.
Uses a problem solving approach to resolve job-related issues.
Contributes to promoting best education and clinical practice integration across system through consultation and committee work with appropriate resource personnel.
Contributes to identification of cost reducing and/or revenue enhancing opportunities.
Advocates for organization and physicians as it relates to identified opportunities for change or improvement, and goal achievement.
Demonstrates content expertise regarding applications and business operations by supporting client and receiving satisfactory customer feedback.
Manages client expectations and priorities through effective communication and interaction.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be knowledgeable of new trends in clinical management and information systems, and be able to apply data processing technology for the clinical and physician services areas.
Must have a thorough knowledge of nursing practices and principles.
Knowledge related to federal and state medical record statues and regulations required.
Thorough knowledge of the impact of process analysis and re-design methodologies on the legal, regulatory, ethical, managerial and organizational, principles and standards for the acute general hospitals and health systems preferred.
