Job Summary: The Provost and community of SUNY Brockport invite applications for the position of full time Library Director. We are seeking and experienced and visionary leader to collaborate with the SUNY Brockport community in positioning the Drake Memorial Library for ongoing excellence in supporting student and faculty success. The candidate in this role will provide progressive leadership to and serve as the principal administrator of the Library. This includes responsibility for personnel, general administration, management, and budget. Best consideration will be given to those applications received by April 15th, 2022. Minimum Qualifications:

  • ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science or related field by time of
appointment from an accredited US Department of Education or internationally recognized college or
university.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, college community and external constituencies, with an
appreciation for cultural and group differences.
  • Demonstrated progressive administrative and management experience in libraries with a preferred
emphasis on strategic planning, budget management, and staff supervision and access.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information technology as it relates to libraries and the ability to develop
collaborative vision for its use.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience building collaborative relationships with various campus stakeholders,
including staff, faculty, students and administrators to foster an organizational culture of collegiality and
service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience working in a library in higher education or academic
setting.
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends in open access, scholarly communication, pedagogy, and
librarianship such as copyright, plagiarism, intellectual freedom, technology, and assessment
  • Knowledge of collection development and knowledge of library systems
  • Demonstrated inclusive and collaborative management and leadership style, including the hiring,
training, and motivation of staff.
  • Experience managing fiscal and budgetary matters related to academic libraries.
  • Demonstrated professional and pedagogical commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in a
student-focused and learning-centered environment.
  • Demonstrated skill utilizing reason, data and facts to engage in evidence based decision-making
  • Familiarity with the ACRL (Association of College & Research Libraries) framework for information
literacy for higher education.
  • Experience with the SUNY Library Consortium (i.e. Alma, Primo)
