Position Description: Responsible for assisting the instructor in coordinating and facilitating the hands-on activities and exams that are necessary to train and evaluate students in hazardous materials management and/or emergency management. Position Responsibilities: 40.00% - Assists Instructor in teaching classroom and/or hands-on skills 30.00% - Assist, monitor and assess students in performing classroom and/or hands-on skills as directed by the instructor. 20.00% - Assist Instructor in the setup, operation, and maintenance of equipment. 5.00% - Operate school vehicles to include truck and gooseneck trailer combination. 5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. Expectations: Advanced knowledge of skills required for successful completion of specific course or training for which assisting. Ability to work with a variety of students and instructors. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - A minimum of 2 years experience in the hazardous materials, emergency management and/or occupational safety and health field. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Education - Prior to assisting with training must have successfully completed the level of certification to which they are assisting. Other Skills - Be able to work with multiple personalities and entities. Be able to show competence in skills in area expected to assist. Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer, printers or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity.
Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.

Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as: weather, industrial chemicals, dirty and noisy locations.

Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields. Wages/Other:
