POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, supervises and coordinates the activities of all food service personnel. Activities include acquisition of food items and kitchen tools, meal preparation, clean up, food storage, contractual paperwork, and safety. Responsible for ensuring that licensing regulations are met and audit preparation and response. Also responsible for preparing, monitoring, and reporting on operational budget

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Completes nutritious meal planning and menu development as well as prepares a written menu for program participant distribution.
2. Ensures all meals are prepared according to prescribed safety standards and meet nutritional requirements
3. Ensures all kitchen operations meet applicable licensing regulations and requirements from state, federal, and external funding agencies. Prepares for and responds to audits and maintains integrity of operations.
4. Develops and monitors budget related to food and related costs.
5. Purchases food and related supplies and manages inventory. Inspects orders for accuracy and completeness. Manages vendor relationships and determines most cost-effective sources.
6. Adheres to safety protocols with respect to the handling and storage of food items, maintenance and care of equipment and supplies, and proper usage of equipment and supplies.
7. Ensures the proper and recommended cleaning procedures for kitchen equipment and supplies
8. Compliance with all mandated training as required by funders

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
9. Recommends and arranges for the maintenance and/or replacement of equipment and materials as necessary.
10. Consistently demonstrates professional and courteous behavior toward clients, co-workers, vendors, and community members and demonstrates respect for their opinions, judgment, and capabilities.
11. Set priorities and effectively manage time while maintaining a high level of productivity

QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.
Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years related experience
  • Supervisory experience (preferred)

  • Ability to observe behavior and appropriately intervene in situations posing a threat to children. Ability to work independently and participate effectively within interdisciplinary teams. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and consider several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Clear Criminal Records Clearance – required
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification – required
  • Defensive Driver Certificate
  • Completion of Cook’s Academy through Food Program preferred
  • Food Safety Manager Certification-required
