Mechanic Junior

Job Summary: Perform routine preventative maintenance services and minor repairs on National Construction Rentals, Inc. (NCR) vehicles. May also assist Midlevel Mechanic or Sr. Mechanic in the performance of more complex mechanical repair services to NCR vehicles and equipment. Support compliance with local, state and federal vehicle and equipment maintenance and safety regulations. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs routine preventative maintenance services on NCR vehicles including, but not limited to: lubricates automotive equipment, including chassis lube, oil and filter changes, gearbox fill or drain and flush, wheel bearing pack and all other lubricating procedures as required.
  • Assist Mechanic and/or Sr. Mechanic in overhaul, rebuilding, and replacing major and minor assemblies and components.
  • Verifies vehicle operational safety such as brakes, clutch, light, mirrors, wipers, tires, etc.
  • Changes and repairs tires, performs battery service.
  • Installs antifreeze; services cooling systems (fill, drain and flush); inspects and replaces hoses.
  • Perform minor repairs such as replacing lights, spark plugs and ignition parts.
  • Safely operates all tools and equipment required to perform the assigned duties.
  • Drives service truck for parts pick up and roadside service as required.
  • Follow all safety rules and wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as instructed or assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED). Between 1 to 2 years of experience in professional automotive maintenance and repair with a minimum of one year’s experience in the repair and maintenance of commercial trucks or equivalent certified training/education.

Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, analyze and interpret detailed documents such as operating and maintenance instructions or procedural manuals. Perform routine task oriented duties from verbal and written mechanical guidelines. Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
