Summary:
You will assist with scheduling, supervision of team members as well as with the day-to-day flow of the Island Market. Additionally you will maintain attractive Grocery displays and support the regional Grocery vision. You will work closely with the Market Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders to ensure smooth operation of the Team members. You will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members. Responsible for various market duties as directed by Management.


Nature and Scope:
  • The incumbent reports directly to the Island Market Manager. The major trust of the position is to support the Island Market(including catering) operation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead by example utilizing a "hands-on" approach to management.
  • Make sure the customers are being taken care of and the department looks great at all times. Surprise and delight the customers with consistent, delightful service.
  • All duties and responsibilities of Grocery Team Member
  • May assist with interviewing
  • Help train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover as delegated by Team Leader and Associate Team Leader
  • Establish and maintain a positive work environment that supports a high Team Member morale.
  • Communicate and maintain Team Member safety and security standards.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Grocery Team Members.
  • Assist in training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials.
  • Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
  • Support store programs.
  • Follows and complies with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adheres to safe work practices.
  • Responds promptly to customer needs and questions and requests assistance when necessary, including answering the store phone system.
  • Open and close department according to established procedures.
  • Oversee team and resolve difficult customer situations.
  • Determine break schedule and insure all necessary breaks are given.
  • Communicate team concerns to the Market Managers.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices.
  • Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner.

  • Create, monitor and update multiple detailed project schedules which include administrative tasks, milestones and all essential team members involved in projects. Provide regular project progress updates to Island Market Manager.
  • Maintain and administer Island Market databases with current recipes, SOP's and related data for all operations.
  • Review and update all presentations for the team according to company standard. Create and maintain documentation for standard operation procedures (SOP), while coordinating efforts with corporate management.
  • Assist with organizational and product management projects.
  • Perform other job related functions as assigned.
  • Issue and log a Daily Recap of Events.
  • Order supplies and maintain inventory of necessary stationary supplies.
  • Answer phone calls and handle all correspondence for Market and general operations

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 year Grocery experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of Courtesy Clerk and Grocery Team Member.
  • Extensive knowledge of Grocery Team procedures and policies.
  • Capable of teaching others in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of position.
  • Ability to operate all necessary equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills; basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Able to prioritize efficiently and delegate responsibilities.
  • Use of box cutters.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal skills required to work effectively with peers and superiors
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat.
  • Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
  • Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of grocery practices, purchasing systems, records and operational procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, to include Excel, Word ,Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn POS systems.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple projects and shift priorities based on business demands..
  • Verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to communicate information tactfully.
  • Ability to maintain confidential proprietary company information
