Position Summary:
Responsible for identifying innovative new technologies, for assessing the technical feasibility of these novel technologies and their value proposition to Stonhard, and for developing these new technologies into proof-of-concept prototype products.
Specific Requirements:
- Identify innovative new technologies that can be used to enhance Stonhard’s product offerings and/or operational efficiency.
- Assess new technologies for technical feasibility.
- Assess the value proposition to Stonhard of new technologies.
- Develop new technologies that have high value potential into proof-of-concept proto-type products or processes, and collaborate with fellow R&D team members to commercialize winning concepts.
- Design, conduct, and analyze laboratory experiments to achieve the goals above.
- Supervise at least one technician or co-op.
- Collaborate not only with Stonhard R&D/TS staff, but also with other RPM scientists, supplier technical contacts, academic contacts, and other industry experts to identify, assess, and develop innovative new technology.
- Collaborate with Arnette Polymers, Dayglo, and other internal RPM raw material suppliers to innovate new chemistries for identified needs when external options are absent or when it is operationally more efficient to produce in-house.
- Collaborate and coordinate innovation activities with Stonhard R&D staff in the European and Platform regions.
- Must possess excellent critical thinking and communication skills.

Background Requirements:
1. Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry, Chemical or Material Engineering or related technical field preferred.
2. Preferred experience level in appropriate industry and/or academic settings of 0 to 5 years.
3. Some supervisory experience preferred.
