Ingredients Sourcing Agent (FT) Job at Central Garden & Pet - Dog/Cat Segment
The Ingredients Sourcing Agent position is responsible for strategic sourcing activities; procurement for the companies including TFH/ Nylabone, Four Paws and IMS: vendor identification, capability assessment and selection, new item sourcing (finished goods, raw materials, and supplies), new item specifications, cost management, cost savings initiatives, commodity, and currency tracking. This position is based out of our Neptune City, NJ commercial office complex.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
- Continuously monitor and document commodity price indices and foreign currency exchange trends and propose corresponding strategies for sourcing and negotiation.
- Engages stakeholders to ensure that program, customer, product, and in-service strategies are integrated into source selection and contracting strategies.
- Continual identification/development of sourcing options.
- Mitigates risks and issues.
- Initiates and executes supplier improvement activities and integrates results into contracting strategies.
- Work as part of cross functional teams to resolve supplier performance issues and support the development of strategic supplier solutions.
- Expand and validate supplier database.
- Document and validate cost changes and trends relating to same.
- Assisting the management of supplier performance through collaborative relationships.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science/Food Science/Technology or Operations/Supply Chain Management.
- Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment; prior food industry or pet food industry experience is a strong plus.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with exceptional written and verbal communication.
- Comprehensive cost modeling and “should-cost” estimate analysis.
- Experience establishing and negotiating vendor purchasing contracts & agreements.
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams and creating a collaborative environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects concurrently.
- Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and organizational skills.
- Ability to quickly develop a deep knowledge of the marketplace and key competitors.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with exceptional written and verbal communication.
- High energy, results- and people-oriented, assertive/persuasive, team player.
- Ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential customer and product information.
- Computer proficiency on all MS Office applications with high proficiency in Excel.
- Limited travel domestic/international.
