Barr Information Specialist
St. Louis Public Library
In this role you will:
-
Assist customers with daily operations including circulation, using library equipment, and answering questions
-
Pull and process Daily Holds reports for Adult materials
-
Provide technology assistance to customers, as needed.
-
Assist with programming as needed.
-
Act as Person in Charge when the manager is not available. This includes opening and closing the building, responding to emergencies, and operating the branch as needed.
You will need to be:

Friendly, patient, and able to build relationships at all levels.

Able to see the big picture and promote consistency and excellence of service.

Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from customers and staff
-
Flexible, positive, and willing to work with staff and colleagues to successfully overcome challenges.
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work with competing tasks and priorities.
You will need to have:

Two years of library related experience, or an associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.

Strong communication, writing, and speaking skills.

Strong organizational skills.
-
Comfortable with using and learning new technology as the Library continues to evolve.

Hours for this position are:
Mondays 11:15-8:15, Tuesdays -Thursdays 9:15-6:15, alternating Fridays & Saturdays 8:45-5:15, work one Sunday per quarter 12:45-5:15. Hours subject to change.
