IN SUMMARY

Serve as a liaison at The Market with the attitude of a coach/mentor to assure employees and managers have what they need to be successful. Manage daily operations by executing HR policies and procedures, initiate resource planning and recruitment. Maintain interdepartmental communications; assist with planning and implementing various training programs; oversee payroll processing and handle employee relations, including complaints and concerns. Analyze and maintain attrition rate, administer leaves of absence, oversee work-related injuries and reporting, internal promotions, employee evaluation appraisals and conduct end of employment procedures.

OVERALL

  • SERVE as a link between management and employees Liaise between departments or other groups to improve function or communication.
  • BE A LIAISON between the company and outside legal and professional resources to ensure all employment policies and actions follow current laws and regulations.
  • ADVISE managers on organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes.
  • ENSURE diversity, equity and inclusivity through all people practices, including hiring, onboarding, compensation review, disciplinary actions professional development and learning.
  • PREPARE AND FOLLOW budgets for personnel operations.
  • OVERSEE records maintenance and compellation of statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates.

STAFFING

  • OVERSEE evaluation and classification of job positions.
  • SPEARHEAD all recruitment efforts
  • DEVELOP compliant job descriptions
  • PREPARE personnel forecast to project employment needs.
  • IDENTIFY staffing vacancies and oversee recruitment, interviews, and assist with applicant selection to provide viable staffing solutions.
  • FOSTER A POSITIVE ATTITUDE toward The Market's objectives through our new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward The Market’s objectives.
  • PROVIDE current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, and employee benefits.

PERFORMANCE

  • OVERSEE AND ASSIST with performance appraisal process.
  • Review performance appraisals in advance and provide feedback to managers.
  • COACH/MENTOR MANAGERS with positive strategies for addressing performance issues that hold employees accountable.
  • REVIEW all documentation, including verbal and written warnings in advance and provide feedback to manager.

PROBLEM RESOLUTION

  • ANALYZE statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organization's personnel policies and practices.
  • ASSIST in problem resolution, conduct employee related investigations, assist with and/or administer disciplinary actions, including coaching and mentoring managers.

TRAINING

  • PLAN, ORGANIZE, DIRECT, CONTROL, OR COORDINATE personnel and safety training activities.
  • ANALYZE training needs to design employee development.
  • PLAN, DIRECT, SUPERVISE, AND COORDINATE work activities of HR Generalist relating to employment, compensation, and employee relations.
  • OVERSEE investigations on work-related accidents and assure timely and accurate reporting/recording requirements.
  • CONDUCT end of employment terminations, including exit interviews when appropriate.

WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO HAVE - Several years’ experience in an HR Manager position in a small to middle-sized (50-200 people) business. | Strong supervisory skills. | A sense of humor and love of people! | Proficiency with Paylocity, or similar payroll system.

WHAT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT IS LIKE - It is tight! Not quite being packed in like sardines, but pretty close sometimes. Making the trip between buildings during all weather conditions is another aspect of this job. That means from time to time you’ll need an umbrella, warm outerwear, boots and an appreciation of Vermont’s beautiful and changing weather!
