Job Summary | The Human Resource Assistant is responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resource department including recruitment, benefits, payroll support, leave processing and tracking, records maintenance, reporting and other special projects. Utilize customer service skills to assist and inform employees and answer any questions and/or resolve issues within the scope of the position.

Essential Functions |

  • Follow all Safety Practices and Guidelines
  • Follow Cardinal Values and Culture of Integrity and Respect
  • Process forms and documentation related to changes in employee status, including FMLA/ILOA/PLOA
  • Assist with benefits administration to include communication to employees on benefits and resolving issues
  • Ability to operate general office equipment including, but not limited to, personal computer, copier, and scanner
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records
  • Preparation and processing hourly payroll and perform periodic audits of HR files and records
  • Oversees pre-employment eligibility screenings ie. background checks, eVerify, drug screening, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Track employee evaluation system and communicate with Managers on status
  • Collaborate with all leaders to develop processes that engage and inspire employees at all levels
  • Act as main point-of-contact for employees with questions/issues related to payroll, benefits, policies and procedures, escalating as necessary
  • Participate in the development and execution of special projects as assigned
  • Host New Hire Orientation and Onboarding process
  • Willingness to seek out additional roles and responsibilities within HR department
  • Flexibility - may be required to work overtime and on weekends

  • Work Environment |
  • This position is performed in an office environment.
  • Time to be out on the production floor is essential to building relationships with production employees.

Prior Experience |

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Human Resources or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience in HR required
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • At least one year of Human Resource experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft programs, and UKG
  • Excellent analytical ability to work out problems, proactively identify trends and implement solutions
  • Ability to prioritize daily workload, demonstrate flexible, logical, and reflective behavior
  • Strategic thinking, facilitation skills, analytical skills
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to learn and apply new concepts
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, across all levels of the organization
  • Detail oriented - excellent organizational skills and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Manufacturing or warehousing experience, preferred but not required

Hours | 1st Shift Mon-Fri 8: 00am-5:00pm

Starting Pay | $21.00 to $26.00

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
