Math Teacher

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement a range of Math courses, such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry
  • Base curricular and instructional decisions on a knowledge of differentiation and a deep understanding of personal learner profiles
  • Consider and actively seek colleague input and new understandings of students, particularly related to emotional complexity
  • Maintain clear, purposeful records of class plans and student performance
  • Work closely with our Counseling Center to propel a therapeutic approach
  • Establish and maintain clear communication with colleagues
  • Work as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators
  • Continue intellectual and professional development

Qualifications

  • 2+ years successful High School or Middle School teaching experience in relevant subject(s)
  • Comfort teaching a range of Math courses
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Strong background in related field(s)
  • Education degree and/or relevant Math/Science degree
  • Teaching certification in any state (NY not required)
  • Interest in receiving frequent support and feedback from other teachers, the coordinators, and other colleagues
  • Commitment to mission at independent school
  • Humor, patience, poise, and an ability to purposefully balance structure and flexibility
