Title: High Jewelry Designer

Reports to: VP Women's Design

Overview: The High Jewelry Designer is responsible for developing new concepts and ideas for collections that will enhance the David Yurman High Jewelry brand.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualizes new designs and collections. Illustrates and sketches ideas to present to Design executives
  • Takes the design from rough concept through a workable, technical rendering that a model maker can follow to create a sample
  • Uses design skills combined with knowledge of the brand aesthetic to expand on initial design concepts to round out collections
  • Responsible for creating free-hand sketched “notes” of the design concepts during new product development meetings
  • Works directly with VP Womens Design and Evan Yurman to elaborate and expand on their design concepts
  • Creates new design concepts in keeping with the David Yurman brand image based on one-of-a-kind stones or materials

Qualifications:

  • Design Degree required, jewelry and metalsmith focus preferred
  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in fine jewelry design required
  • Strong hand rending skills
  • Proven excellence designing high jewelry required
  • Contemporary and fresh perspective on design. Full of creative and innovative ideas
  • Understands and respects for the David Yurman brand DNA, ability to join and change DY collections in a new and exciting way
  • Strong point of view, organic and bold designs
  • Experiments with mixed materials
  • Strong sense of fashion with high taste level
  • Technical knowledge of jewelry manufacturing and materials
  • Creative aesthetic in keeping with the David Yurman brand
  • Some travel required
  • Located in New York, NY

Estimated Salary Range: $90,000-$130,000

Base pay is one component of David Yurman’s total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
