Ascent Classical Academies is currently seeking a headmaster who shares a passion for our mission to grow the classical education movement and to lead our new school opening in fall 2023 in Grand Junction on Colorado's vibrant western slope.

The Headmaster is the Master Teacher and Chief Executive for the operation of the School and ultimately responsible for the success of the education of the students in accordance with the principles and requirements set forth in the authorizing documents including the charter contract. As leader of the School, the Headmaster must have high moral character and embrace the virtues of a free and just society. The Headmaster is also committed to curricular and workplace excellence in the School as well as operational excellence through support and buy-in of ACA’s entrepreneurial operating system (EOS). The Headmaster balances flexibility and innovation with discernment and consistency while staying faithfully committed to the mission and vision of ACA, as well as laws, guidance, and best practices. The Headmaster reports to the CEO/Executive Director and is accountable for the School’s performance to the Governing Board.

Ascent Classical Academies partners with a network of classical charter schools based in Colorado delivering a content-rich curriculum in the liberal arts and sciences, with underlying principles in the Western tradition of the study of history, literature, philosophy, and fine arts. Our American Classical Education includes, among other things, the study of Latin; a rich examination of American literary, moral, philosophical, political, and historical tradition; and a school culture centered upon moral virtue, respect, discipline, and studiousness among students and faculty alike. Desired Start Date: For a Fall 2023 opening, the successful candidate may start part-time (or full-time) to engage in faculty hiring and other pre-opening activities in February/March 2023, and full time by early summer.

Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt, Year-round

Salary: $90,000 to $120,000 annually, highly dependent on experience and qualifications, as well as funding and enrollment to be determined

• Master's Degree or higher preferred for school leadership
• Significant experience in classical education and school leadership
• 5 years or more classroom experience
• Exceptional organizational skills, and experienced management skills
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
