The Hampton by Hilton – Amherst is strategically located between two popular destinations – the Amherst Recreation Complex and the University at Buffalo North Campus.

The Amherst Recreation Complex provides indoor and outdoor sports and recreational activities year-round. Its Northtown Center is the top tourism destination in town.

POSITION SUMMARY

Set up and break down each morning's breakfast buffet, ensuring buffet items such as fruits, breads, cereals and bakery items remain well-stocked, maintaining the safety and appearance of the buffet area and cleaning the area in preparation for the next day. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
  • Replenish silverware, sugar caddies and condiments.
  • Light to moderate food preparation.
  • Refill beverage containers.
  • Mop, wipe and sweep when needed.
  • Attendants are also tasked with acting as representatives of the hotel, and are therefore required to provide a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere to guests.

Supportive Functions – In addition to the performance in the duties delegated to the breakfast attendant, the attendant must possess good communication skills for keeping customers informed of breakfast offerings and hotel information. As the position calls for working in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment, the attendant should be courteous, efficient, and friendly. Attendants must have a strong capability to multitask, be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 25 lbs. and work with cleaning chemicals.

Assimilate into the Embassy Suites culture through understanding, supporting, and participating in all elements of CARE. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Hilton from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required while performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety. The hotel will provide the required PPE. Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, serviceware, and menu items
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, record orders, and communicate with guests to explain and record orders
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items
  • Ability to operate beverage and toast equipment

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Prefer six (6) months to one year previous serving experience. Prior hospitality experience preferred.

GROOMING/UNIFORMS

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as part of the orientation process.
