FLSA Status: Exempt – 12 month position
Salary Grade: 5A ($35,568 - $53,327)/year

SUMMARY

Coordinates residential, counseling and therapeutic services for St. Labre Youth Group Home youth under the supervision of the Director. Professional responsibilities include coordinating individual, group, and family therapy, coordinating youth admissions, public relations and education by performing the following duties. Shall assist in the development of policies and procedures to insure a safe, positive Youth Group Home program is maintained. Professional responsibilities include consultation, training, evaluation, licensing and development of theYouth Group Home.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Indicates the non-essential duties and responsibilities. Nothing in this job description restricts St. Labre's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

Residential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and arranges for individual, group, and family therapy for St. Labre Youth Group Home youth. Therapeutic services provided for youth will include counseling for sexual abuse issues, co-dependency issues, substance abuse issues, and crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
  • Monitors the progress of youth through observation, documentation of individual/group therapy sessions, and data provided by the House Parents. Helps implement treatment plans for each youth through direct contact with other staff, teachers, counselors, and the Director.
  • Reports youth progress to the Director on a monthly basis.
  • Provides as needed, documentation of progress to individuals who are directly and indirectly involved with the youth while at St. Labre Youth & Family Services (i.e., other staff, Teachers, Director, and the Executive Director). Works closely with these individuals to assist in providing for the youths emotional needs.
  • Provides post-placement recommendations and coordinates necessary referrals arrangements.
  • Assists in negotiating and acquiring outside ancillary services for youth with serious behavioral problems when necessary. Works with the outside services and the Youth Group Home staff to coordinate treatment strategies.
  • Prepares a monthly staffing report for the St. Labre Youth & Family Services Director.
  • Coordinates youth admissions, including youth referrals. Assists private referrals in completing admissions packets and social summaries. Provides technical assistance to referring agencies in completing admissions packets when necessary.
  • Handles routine administrative functions; functions of which the Director so designates in his/her absence.
  • Maintains confidential and sensitive information.



Supervisory Duties/Responsibilities

1. Conducts pre-service and in-service staff training to enable staff to understand the job and implement
the components of the model.
2. Arranges and schedules other staff training.
3. Teaches and develops skills that new staff will need in their job, through role-play practice and
dissemination of information to aid them in their professional growth and ensure longevity of their
job.
4. Develops a shift schedule to ensure full staff coverage of group homes.
5. Schedules and conducts weekly meetings to discuss the youth, their goals, the home, and upcoming
events to ensure coordination among staff members.
6. Accepts feedback and suggestions or questions from staff by letting them know they can bring up
topics or concerns any time with manager and other staff.
7. Gives feedback to, as well as receives feedback from, the staff in a rational way to strengthen team
relationship, as well as develop positive change.
8. Provides director with summary of above duties and responsibilities for the youth group home.
9. Provides 24 hour on-call support services to Youth Group Home, must be able to be at group home
within a reasonable amount of time.
10. Provides shift coverage as needed.

Recreation Duties/Responsibilities
  • Develops, schedules and promotes recreation activities for children to develop confidence needed to participate in group and individual activities.
  • Exercises creativity in the continued development of recreational activities through the continual assessment of youth needs.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of recreation activities, facilities, and services.
  • Develops immediate and long range plans to meet recreational needs of all age groups.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and general care of the recreation equipment and recreation center including any assigned vehicle(s).
  • Schedules use of recreation facilities and equipment and develops and maintains an accountable checkout system for equipment, resources, property, and facilities.
  • Keeps current inventories of recreation equipment. Prepares and submits requisition for needed supplies and equipment.
  • Utilizes Native American elders, spiritual healers/leaders and other Native people as motivational/inspirational speakers and for ceremonies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has staff supervisory responsibilities in the Youth Group Home of up to 8 direct care staff. Supervises up to 8 youth during scheduled activities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the St. Labre Youth and Family Services and St. Labre Indian School's policies, procedures and applicable laws per MT state regulations and standards. .
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; and at least one to two years related experience and/or training (in social work or counseling preferred); and one to two years related child care experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Candidates are required to pass a thorough background verification procedure to determine appropriateness for duty, in order to satisfactorily and safely care for the youth. This includes finger printing.
