POSITION SUMMARY: Temporary - 1 year assignment

The Data Analyst at Project HOPE/Global Health is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of analytics solutions to monitor the performance of Global Health Programs, leveraging a variety of analytic methods, tools, visualizations, and modeling techniques. This includes consultation with leadership to assess analytics needs and facilitation of solution development by managing multiple concurrent efforts. The analyst works under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Health Officer and along with a Monitoring and Evaluation team as well as geographic and programmatic strategy units at Project HOPE. Data Analyst will interact with variety of stakeholders, coordinating analytic activities across the global health programs with Project HOPE staff across country offices, regional and HQ-based leadership.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, maintain, and adapt a Project HOPE dashboard for leadership to reflect overall program performance across programs around the world
  • Develop and disseminate a monthly program performance report which reflects established performance indicators for each project around the world
  • Participate in and/or lead data analytic and evidence-based improvement projects within Project HOPE
  • Continuously advance expertise in data/analytics competencies
  • Utilize statistical programs like SQL/R and other query tools to analyze large quantities of data, from multiple complex internal and external sources to glean understanding, develop dashboards and derive actionable insights into organizational performance and the external environment, and measure progress toward strategic initiatives
  • Leveraging knowledge and skill with a variety of analytic tools, design, create, maintain powerful visualizations and models that illuminate opportunities to support strategic planning and initiatives, improve organizational performance, project future demand, and advance progress towards Project HOPE annual goals
  • Provide relevant and appropriate consultation including, as appropriate, oral and written presentations at meetings or to leadership
  • Proactively develop and maintain working knowledge including organizational structure, core leaders, decision makers, relationships with other functional areas, and the market
  • Learn continuously and share ideas
  • Develop and maintain trusted advisor relationships that include guidance, as appropriate, for optimizing use of analytic capabilities and deliverables, and prioritization based on strategic vision
  • Validate all work through reasonability checks; comparisons to historical results and benchmarks; end user validation processes; and other processes established by the team
  • Complete all documentation of data structures; measures and metadata; assumptions and models; reports and analyses; user focused aids and training materials; and other documentation as required
  • May provide peer review of colleagues’ coding, results, analyses and other end products.
  • Maintain and update existing reports and tools based on changes in strategic priorities, the external environment, underlying software, data-structure changes, or end-user workflows Maintain understanding and knowledge of applications, reporting/analysis tools and analytics strategy implemented by Project HOPE.
  • Interpret government and other reporting requirements, including quarterly reporting
  • Apply a common set of business rules and methodologies to analytic work.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Data Science or related field. (Relevant work experience in low and middle income may be considered in lieu of educational requirement)

Preferred Master’s degree in Healthcare, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Data Science or related field strongly preferred.


Work Experience

Minimum • Code development using statistical software like SAS/R/SQL • Visualization of data using R or Python • Statistical or descriptive analyses using R or Python • Routine program data analysis

Preferred • Program Quality Assessment • Program Indicator Performance Evaluation Dashboard * Performance measure development • Organization, analysis and modeling of multiple unstructured data sources

  • While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently.
  • Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship.”
