POSITION SUMMARY:

• Assists in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment in good repair.
• Functions under the supervision of the Plant Operations Manager.
• Assists in the effective, efficient and safe operations of the Maintenance office ensuring that the objectives of the Maintenance Department and the organization are met.
• Ensures appropriate organizational and patient safety practices are in use.
• Promotes good public relations through contacts with patients, practitioners, visitors, employees, peers and the public at large.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
• Acts as courier to the various clinics.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for minor electrical work, mechanical repairs and other duties relating to maintenance.
• Performs all assigned takes in a professional manner as to reflect the highest integrity of the Plant Operations.
• Assists in maintaining and repairing H.V.A.C. controls and associate equipment to maximize efficiency levels in all environment controlled area.
• Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing system required.
• Performs preventative maintenance duties to all physical structures of hospital and complies with all building safety codes. This is to include facility equipment and associated controls.
• Assist in replacing, installing, repairing and testing electrical circuits, equipment, appliance and lighting systems as required.
• Maintains routine records of all inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system.
• Performs manual duties as requested (i.e. moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap material).
• Reads blueprints, interprets instructions and prepares specifications.
• Ability to work on own to inspect facilities and equipment without more than normal supervision.
• Working knowledge of fire alarm and signal systems.
• Through knowledge of how to use and maintain plant tools and equipment.
• Inspects building and grounds to ensure conformance with established regulations.
• Knowledge and observance of safety precautions.
• Maintains adequate and effective communication between the Maintenance and ancillary departments for problem solving.
• Interacts with others (on the phone or in person) in a positive, professional and appropriate manner.
• Works cooperatively with others. Has respect for and an understanding of the contributions of all team members.
• Attends required meetings and participates in educational programs, in-service meetings including department specific requirements.
• Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality maintenance services.
• Protects patient confidentiality by promoting appropriate staff communication practices.
• May work varied shifts as required.
• Ability to read and analyze documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

Three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
