A General Laborer II Assist Craft Journeyman and Craft Helpers by performing support tasks on construction projects such as erecting, wrecking, repairing, maintenance and janitorial functions.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
Operate, read, and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices in confined and/or hazardous environments.
Assisting build and positioning forms for pouring concrete, and dismantle forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards, while following all waste handling guidelines. Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps and other temporary structures.
Act as a watch when welding or metal cutting is performed by craft workers. Expedites materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work sites.
Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various janitorial activities. Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixers: and mix, pour, and spread concrete. Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement.
Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. Ensure work areas are properly maintained and safe and public protection measures are in place.
Individual in this position is responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the erection of structures and buildings. Unloads and loads materials, tends machines, mixes concrete, pours concrete, and assists carpenters, equipment operators, and other construction site workers.
May work as a rigger, concrete crewman, demolition laborer; including salvaging all material, loading, cleaning up, wrecking, flagman, guardrail/ fence erector and installer, including installation and erection of fence, medial rails, reference posts, guideposts and right-of-way markers, form strippers, general laborers, riprap man, scale man, stake jumper, structure mover, includes foundation, separation, preparation, cribbing, shoring, jacking and unloading of structures, truck loader, water attendant, or other tasks assigned by the foreman.

Qualifications:
Experience
Able to perform some support tasks with close supervision/direction and support.
Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation.
The degree of job responsibilities and requirements may vary depending on months of experience.
Certifications may be required for hazardous material removal, pipeline work, welding, forklift operator or scaffolding builder
6-18 Months of Laborer Experience
Experience with tools such as: Chipping Hammer, Wacker Packer, Shovel, Pickaxe

Work Environment
Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, reaching, climbing, pushing, crouching, balancing and lifting 50 Lbs.
Work at heights without fear.
Works under immediate supervision.
Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgement.
Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
Will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot – cool/cold. Occasional rain.
Will work at different elevations.
Dusty environment.
Noise levels will be moderate to high.
Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools.
People standing, walking, sitting, signalling and talking. Bells, whistles and alarms.
