Summary

Operate and monitor the furnace. These duties are to be performed within safety, quality, and production standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned that pertain to this classification.

• Over see set up and operation of charging the furnaces.
• Perform quality testing to assure performance within set specifications.
• Perform tapping the furnace into the bull ladles.
• Monitoring temperatures and chemistry, as well as monitoring the condition of the furnace.
• Responsible for cold starts or sinters on weekends when needed.
• Maintains housekeeping and 6s daily.

• Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

• Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

• Reaction Time - The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
• Manual Dexterity - The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
• Multi-limb Coordination - The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
• Trunk Strength - The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time.

• Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

Standing, stooping and squatting can be expected along with repetitive bending as well as navigation of stairs, ramps, and uneven walking surfaces. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to focus.

The performance of this position normally requires exposure to typical manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment: Steel toed shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, hearing protection, gloves, flame resistant clothing, and spats for shoes.

Primary environment: Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. Industrial lighting provided.
