Job Summary:

Manufacture parts to specification; operate punch press, drill press, air mills, and saw; assemble parts, optimize quality and productivity, and perform other tasks as assigned.

Job Responsibilities, including by not limited to:

  • Properly power on and off machines.
  • Load, unload, and operate machines.
  • Change tooling and make machine adjustments as needed.
  • Identify and communicate machine operation and part quality problems.
  • Check and maintain proper coolant levels.
  • Perform operator level machine maintenance.
  • Operate to workmanship standards, work from prints, process routings, and/or samples to achieve, or to exceed quality and productions standards. Seek assistance if standards cannot be met.
  • Inspect parts periodically using predetermined gaging such as, micrometers, depth micrometers, comparator, fixed gaging, and other job specific gaging instruments to maintain specified requirements.
  • Interface with set-up personnel and other operators to maximize departmental production. To execute schedules (meet lead times) and to allow for uninterrupted set-ups.
  • Record work performed via E2 and maintain proper documentation.
  • Follow the safe practices and housekeeping instructions for the CNC/Finishing department.
  • Know and understand the relevant sections of ASP’s ISO Quality Management System and how they apply to this job.
  • Communicate job status to department manager.
  • Contribute to continual improvement.
  • Maintain performance at, or above, company expectations.
  • Be at machine while equipment is running.
Requirements:

Position Specification:

  • Completed in-house training, or have experience in operating finishing and/or CNC machines.
  • Have blueprint reading, GD&T and parts inspection capabilities.
  • Understand tooling application and shown competence in changing and changing tools, as well as making offsets.
  • Have interpersonal skills to interact with, and effectively relate to others.
  • Completed department safety training.
  • Computer literate.
  • Read, write and speak English.
  • Math competency – 8th grade or greater.
  • Understand ASP’s ISO Quality Management System.
  • Have basic tools and inspection equipment.
  • Contribute to continual improvement.

Physical Demands

  • Manual Dexterity
  • Visual accuracy with or without corrective lenses.
  • Stand, walk, twist and bend at waist more than 2/3 of work day,
  • Sit, kneel, and squat less than 1/3 of the workday.
  • Push, pull or carry up to 50lbs periodically.
  • Lift:

1-50 lbs floor to waist less than 1/3 of work day

1-30lbs, waist level and above more than 1/3 of day
