At Cocoon House we empower young people, families, and communities in Snohomish County to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing, and prevention. Currently, our Family Engagement team is looking to fill the full-time role of Family Resource Specialist. The Family Resource Specialist’s role works with families to achieve stability and prevent future youth homelessness through connecting them with community resources, public benefits and support. This Family Resource Specialist will work specifically with families with young people ages 8-11. The Family Resource Specialist will support the families through strength-based goals setting and support, resource referrals, employment/education, public benefits navigation and parenting classes and groups. They also respond to community calls, collaborate with community partners, and work collaboratively across Cocoon House programs to insure consistency of care for youth and families.

This position requires a typical work schedule of Monday-Friday with at least one weekend each month (adjusting weekday hours accordingly). There will be regular evening hours as late as 8 pm to meet families’ scheduling needs - not to exceed 40 hours a work week.

Our Family Resource Specialist...

  • Conducts outreach to the community to build a caseload and referral base.
  • Provides short-term resource support, referrals and case management to families
  • Communicates directly with other providers to coordinate care and conduct wrap-around meetings.
  • Provides low-barrier support for families through phone calls and drop-in services.
  • Provides support for WayOUT seminars and other educational parenting classes each month.

Pay Scale:

$21-23/hr DOE

Requirements:

General:

  • 1 year of experience working in human services with at least one year of experience with parents of teens and one year with youth and young adults.
  • Spanish speaking/bi-lingual preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Clear a background check with DCYF.
  • Possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation.


Physical:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all internal and external clients
  • Be able to hear voices and alarms.
  • Ability to read and comprehend a variety of materials
  • Ability to operate phone, computer, and record information for files and logs
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 Ibs
  • Go up and down stairs
