The Extension Health Area Coordinator will provide mentoring and guidance to Extension Health Agents on the Extension Health program team. Educational programs and initiatives may include: School Wellness Checklist/Fruit and Vegetable production and distribution and others. Programs will target a wide range of demographic groups through collaborative efforts with relevant internal and external partners and stakeholders. Programs will emphasize the Extension Health education mission and embody the spirit of the University's land grant mission.

JOB DUTIES:


40% - Essential - Provide instruction and training within your field of expertise to increase knowledge transfer to faculty, staff, internal and external audiences: 1) Develop and deliver Extension Health programs and in-service trainings to assigned internal and external populations; 2) Facilitate change for health and well being of individuals and communities through Policy, System and Environment ( PSE) projects and initiatives; 3) Assess, train, and provide feedback to Extension agents, staff, and volunteers, on the delivery of approved, scientifically-supported Extension Health programs to ensure relevancy, quality and fidelity of programs across the state.

30% - Essential - Establish self as a content expert through assessment, design, implementation, and/or reporting of applied research and techniques within your field.: 1)Develop scholarly output, products, and demonstrations that support Extension Health programs and address clientele needs (scholarly output includes publication and presentation on findings from community needs assessments, project data collections , evaluation methods and results); 2) Develop , maintain, publish, and promote Extension Health curricula, lessons and training materials for spread and scale of Extension Health programs.

10% - Essential - Interact and coordinate programming efforts with teaching and research faculty, other state and federal agencies, and private partners and organizations to educate undergraduate and graduate students, interns and volunteers for future workforce recruitment and development.: 1) Seek grants, funding agreements and private gifts to support assigned programs and community Extension Health initiatives in assigned area and state; 2) Work Cooperatively with state Extension staff and departmental faculty to plan, teach, coordinate, and evaluate student educational experiences.

10% - Essential - Provide service to clients, client groups, volunteers, Extension Agents, Extension Specialists, Researchers and others: 1) Promote visibility of Extension Health programs, initiatives, and staff to internal and external stakeholders through collaborative meetings, participation in coalitions and action groups, media management, and other avenues; 2) Review, edit, and seek approval for agent-generated publications, grants, and media messages to ensure message validity; 3) Assist with the development and implementation of MOUs and contracts between Extension Health staff and collaborators.

10% - Essential - Provide formal and informal leadership: 1) Work with Program Team Director to assess, develop, and implement the team's strategic plan that is closely aligned with the University and Cooperative Extension mission; 2) Facilitate a positive work environment and promote positive workforce development for Extension Health team and other program team agents by collaborating with ELT members to meet agent needs and promote maximum retention; 3) Work with Program Team Director to provide feedback on assigned Extension Health agents for agent development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Education - Master's Degree

Experience - 5 years of related experience to Cooperative Extension

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


Education - Master's Degree in Public Health, Allied Health, Food Science, Nutrition Science, or Education

Experience - Experience relative to health program development, implementation, and evaluation

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.

JOB LOCATION:


Position will be located in one of the following county extension offices: Cherokee, Chester, Fairfield, Greenville, Laurens, Newberry, Saluda, Spartanburg or Union.
