This is a remote position.
We are seeking an experienced Explosive Detection System (EDS) Engineer who is well versed in the TSA, EDSs, BHS interfaces, and Checked Baggage Inspection Systems.

  • Key role with Prime Contractor for Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Acquisition Program Management (APM), Checked Baggage Technologies Division (CBTD).
  • Provide technical support services to Checked Baggage Technologies Division (CBTD) Planning Branch and Engineering Branch for cost validation analysis, modeling and simulation, Planning Guidelines and Design Standards (PGDS) revision support, design reviews, and project level support.

Requirements
Computed Tomography expertise is critical.
General Requirements:

  • Required: Minimum of 12 years of experience required with a BS
  • Preferred: Minimum of 8+ years of experience required with an MS
  • In design, operation, testing and analysis of test results, and integration of sub system technologies comprising the checked baggage environment, CT imaging, cyber security requirements specification, experience with configuration management systems and procedures, supporting end of life (EOL) procedures for “system of systems” technologies

Required Skills/Experience

  • Strong experience with X-ray Explosive Detection Systems (EDSs), CT imaging, Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), alarm resolution technologies and their integration in local networks.
  • Checked baggage systems engineering knowledge, expertise, experience
  • Familiarity with detection standards criteria for the checked baggage environment
  • Ability to review Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) test data and engineering change requests to establish impact on meeting applicable checked baggage detection standards.
  • Ability to conduct End of Life (EOL) contract close out technical support requirements
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate OEM manufacturing re-location change and ensure the ability to satisfy quality assurance in the screening devices
  • Ability to design and maintain Integrated Master Schedules (IMSs) for checked baggage technologies of different OEMs.
  • Cyber security requirements and testing, including anti-virus protections
  • Experience with FAT, SAT and ISAT testing criteria and methods

EDUCATION:

  • Required: Minimum: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry, or related science field
  • Preferred: Masters of Science (MS) degree in the above areas of studies
  • Complete familiarity with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project), and AutoCAD (or similar)

DESIRED:

  • Familiar with OSHA and UL regulations
  • Experience in conducting Airport Design Reviews plans
  • Generate IGCEs for various level of airport installations
  • Ability to review and comment on Airport design requests/ changes
  • Experience with Airport Design Plans Review and design compliance with the applicable version of the PGDS for CBIS and other TSA performance standards.
  • Conduct site airport site assessments:
  • Provide system-level engineering expertise in CBIS design.
  • Provide comprehensive knowledge of BHS electrical, mechanical, software, system analysis, design, installation and operational interface facets.
  • Evaluate airport CBISs to identify sources of screening inefficiencies, safety, or security issues and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Document site assessments findings and recommendations.
  • Develop the evaluation plan for networks by assisting with the documentation of EDS/ EDS Network requirements as it relates to TSA IT.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
