EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:

Directs CCD in the achievement of its mission and performance goals by providing leadership and management of activities and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Executive Director, with the support of the Board of Directors, is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

Establishes short- and long-range plans, programs, policies and objectives in line with CCD’s vision and mission;

  • CCD Vision: To be the premier provider of business and workforce services, including workforce education & training, career guidance & job placement, and business service & professional referrals.
  • CCD Mission: Empowerment through employment. We provide the tools, resources and training that benefit job seekers, businesses and the community.

Develops new programs, and evaluates existing programs using evidence-based systems:

  • Oversees the collection of programmatic and fiscal data for management and evaluation;
  • Reviews operating results of CCD’s programs, compares these results to established objectives, and implements appropriate corrective measures to correct where needed;
  • Participates in the continuous quality improvement training process with staff;
  • Oversees CCD’s preparation for programmatic audits and monitoring, reporting results to the Board of Directors;
  • Provides comprehensive performance reports to the Board of Directors monthly;
  • Supervises the creation of the CCD’s annual report to promote accomplishments and ensure transparency and accountability of the organization;
  • Ensures CCD meets all performance measures to maintain top decile performance within the WorkSource System.
  • Provides advice, guidance, and direction to staff to carry out major plans, programs and procedures, consistent with established policies and funding source requirements for similar customer bases, including underserved populations such as veterans, English language learners, ex-offenders, people with disabilities, older workers and the homeless.
  • Oversees the adequacy and soundness of CCD’s financial structure:
  • Prepares the annual budget, including revenue, expense and cashflow forecasts, based on regulatory requirements and expenditure policies of the Board of Directors;
  • Prepares and executes grant acquisition and fundraising strategies for CCD to ensure financial sustainability, including private/public grant proposals, fee for service, and other revenue-generating activities;
  • Ensures internal financial controls are in place and followed on an on-going basis;
  • Prepares CCD for successful financial audits;
  • Provides detailed financial reports to the Board of Directors monthly.
  • Supervises designated senior staff; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with CCD’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviews, hires and trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance annually; rewards and disciplines employees (including terminations); addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Establishes and maintains effective and systematic communication throughout the organization, and with agency partners, local business groups and local businesses:
  • Represents the agency to local vendors, business committees in the political and financial arenas;
  • Develops and maintains effective partnerships with key community/state/national leaders, elected officials and funding sources;
  • Serves in intermediary capacity for sector initiatives;
  • Interprets CCD’s goal and services to various entities, including the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, contributors, other non-profit agencies, relevant government agencies, the media and the public;
  • Negotiates and executes contracts with funding sources and contractors that benefit the agency;
  • Oversees procurement of services, equipment, supplies, materials and other items as required.
  • Supervises/generates press releases, media events and special literature in cooperation with the Board of Directors to disseminate CCD’s goals and programs to the general public; establishes and maintains effective partnerships with media representatives.
  • Attends and supports all Board of Director meetings, including committee meetings that occur on a regular basis:
  • Schedules meetings and prepares meeting agendas and materials;
  • Provides interim program evaluations/updates to the Board of Directors/committee members at each board meeting;
  • Assists with orientation of new Board members;
  • Provides in-service training to Board members to keep them informed of regulatory, economic and industry changes;
  • Assists the Board chair in Board development activities;
  • Develops the multi-year strategic plan with the Board of Directors, including goals, objectives and measures; coordinates annual Board retreat; reports progress to the Board at monthly meetings.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, relevant College Certifications or 10+ years equivalent work experience in a business-related or social science-related discipline or field;
  • 5+ years experience in management/supervision of staff;
  • Excellent customer service interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising activities within non-profit organizations;
  • Knowledge and experience in financial practices within non-profit organizations;
  • Ability to work under stress in a fast-paced environment to meet goals and deadlines;
  • Ability to work with a diverse employee and customer base, including those with disabilities and cultural/language differences;
  • A track record in ethical behavior, including fiscal integrity, no conflicts of interest, no discrimination and sexual harassment history, application of equal opportunity principles and compliance with federal and state laws.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $125,000.00 per year
