Objective of Position: Ability to monitor and maintain material flow to the hoppers that feed the extruders unassisted. Able to communicate quality issues, complete required documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

  • Monitor and troubleshoot blending systems for proper operation
  • Remove and replace Hopper screens
  • Repair and replace vacuum hoses
  • Clean and maintain cyclone dust collectors
  • Correct formulas and rates for each product type
  • Able to use a fire extinguisher
  • Climb heights up to 60 feet to report silo readings and material held in each silo
  • Housekeeping, must keep all mezzanines and surge bin floor areas free of debris
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed
  • Must adhere to and be compliant with all GMP standards

Safety:

The Extrusion Operator Helper will be responsible for individual compliance with all safety rules, regulations and policy procedures. Employee responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Compliance with all facility safety rules and regulations.
  • Reporting any unsafe practices and/or conditions to their supervisor.
  • Maintaining floor safety discipline by interceding with fellow employees, who may engage in rule violations and/or unsafe, unhealthy activities.
  • Communicating to management those employees who persist in violations of safety rules and/or procedures.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment properly and reporting any defective PPE.
  • Reporting all near misses, accidents, injuries or illnesses, including Muscular Skeletal symptoms or disorders.

Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three months related experience and/or training (mechanical aptitude a major plus) preferredLANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to understand, read, write and speak English as all Machine Operator personnel will be required to read and interpret Company documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; required to complete and document all required reports accurately and without assistance; and communicate with Supervisors and co-workers regarding daily operations of equipment and material being produced.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


. Ability to operate a calculator.. Ability to read and understand instrumentation gauges.. Ability to understand and determine “differentiation pressures” from a pressure controller.. Able to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.


REASONING ABILITY


. Ability to recognize and identify problems with machines and/or material via collection of data and interpretation of that data. . Ability to apply troubleshooting techniques to issues as they arise and seek help when necessary. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.. Ability to differentiate between “good” and “bad” quality.

  • Visual Requirements:
    • Individual must have close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
    • Individual must have distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
    • Individual must have color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
    • Individual must have peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).
    • Individual must have depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
    • Individual must have the ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

General Work Environment:

  • Extrusion Operator Helper will spend 4-8 hours working near moving mechanical parts.
  • Extrusion Operator Helper will spend 1-4 hours working in high, precarious places.
  • Extrusion Operator Helper will spend 4-8 hours working near fumes or airborne particles.
  • Extrusion Operator Helper will spend 4-8 hours in hot or cold conditions.
  • Extrusion Operator Helper will work in a loud manufacturing environment.
  • Extrusion Operator Helper will spend 4-6 hours working with a risk of electrical shock.

Additional Information:

  • Extrusion Operator Helper will be working in and around grinder areas.
  • Must be dependable and demonstrate the ability to follow directions.
  • Must be able to work well with other employees and give help when needed.
  • Must have attention to details.
  • Must complete written test with 80% or above success rate.
