Overview
Merrick is seeking an entry level Electrical Engineer to serve in a variety of energy markets including power generation, particularly within generation facilities such as coal, combined cycle and simple cycle gas turbines, hydroelectric, wind and solar generation, and power delivery, such as substation and transmission. Other projects will include midstream and downstream oil & gas, and renewable fuels. This person will be located in our Chattanooga, TN office.
Scope/Key Responsibilities:
Merrick is seeking an entry level Electrical Engineer to serve in a variety of energy markets including power generation, particularly within generation facilities such as coal, combined cycle and simple cycle gas turbines, hydroelectric, wind and solar generation, and power delivery, such as substation and transmission. Other projects will include midstream and downstream oil & gas, and renewable fuels. This person will be located in our Chattanooga, TN office.
Scope/Key Responsibilities:
- Under direct supervision of mid level and senior engineers, develop electrical design documents and drawings.
- Perform simple electrical calculations including voltage drop, conduit fill, lighting and grounding
- Develop datasheets for electrical equipment including motors, transformers, VFDs, UPS
- Develop specifications for electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, MCCs
- Support in development of electrical drawings including one line drawings, electrical schematics, electrical equipment layout, hazardous area classification, grounding layout
- Candidate shall have excellent communication skills and technical writing skills
- Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality
- Travel to client project sites to support field walk downs and as-built effort.
Required Experience:
- BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required.
- Qualified candidates will have successfully passed the FE/EIT exam or has applied for the exam and plans to work toward PE licensure.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Zero (0) - four (4) years of electrical engineeringexperience, preferably in energy, oil and gas, or other industrial process industries.
- Experience developingone-line drawings, control schematics and wiring diagrams, electrical equipment specifications, power plans, conduit plans, cable schedules, etc.
- Working knowledge of technical Codes and Standards: NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC, etc.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, REVIT or other design software.
- The successful candidate will be energetic, cooperative, coorperative, flexible and articulate.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.- Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
