How will you make an impact?

The Human Identification (HID) Business Unit is committed to providing genetic solutions to advance public safety. As a team, we work to ensure the voice of customer is brought into our product portfolio. Our goal is to build and deliver complete solutions designed for meeting forensic and law enforcement’s unmet needs. We are looking for a dynamic leader to drive product innovation and strategy. This role will lead the product portfolio for the HID business. You will serve as the product champion, build the strategy, roadmap, launch products, and own all product management responsibilities for the growing portfolio of products. This role will have P&L responsibility and lead a diverse team of product managers, and therefore will be accountable for their performance and colleague development. This highly visible role will help provide valuable growth to Thermo Fisher Scientific.

What will you do?

  • Analyze market trends, customer requirements, and competitive strategy, and find opportunities for growing customer and business value through product differentiation
  • Lead worldwide supply, demand, revenue, margin, and pricing for the product portfolio.
  • Responsible for revenue growth of the portfolio in conjunction with global marketing and commercial teams.
  • Develop relationships with industry leaders and run strategic collaborations around this portfolio.
  • Lead strong cross-company collaborations in a highly matrixed organization to achieve results and meet divisional partnership initiatives.
  • Lead teams through new product development from concept through commercialization, including voice of customer research, definition of customer and product requirements, and value proposition.
  • Lead product launch and sales training teams.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of HID team to drive growth for the business unit.
  • Interact with varying levels of internal and external personnel, will require direct customer communication, public presentations, and a team-focused approach
  • Participate in senior leadership team meetings, including setting objectives and strategies as well as take accountability for implementation and results.
  • Develop robust talent strategy including active development of internal talent.
  • Build an impactful team by hiring, developing, and engaging hard-working and motivated employees.
  • Be a key opinion leader (KOL) for our growth initiative portfolio, represent Thermo Fisher Scientific externally at conferences and tradeshows.
  • Function as the business owner / ambassador to division and enterprise partners.

How will you get here?

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field or Business required
  • MBA and/or Master’s or Ph.D. in a scientific field preferred

Experience

  • 5+ years in product management, marketing, sales or strategy
  • 3+ years of developing and leading successful teams
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed organization and working directly with customers.
  • Strong leadership, project management and planning skills, and comfortable making decisions and adopting changes
  • Experience working with customers, commercial teams and a diverse range of sales channels strongly preferred

  • Shown success in marketing, product management or strategy role including participating in market analysis, planning, road mapping and new product development
  • Consistent track record to find opportunities, think critically, and drive key business priorities.
  • Ability and motivation to understand Forensic and law enforcement markets and communicate to technical and non-technical audience
  • Ability to build relationships and guide teams which include representatives from multiple functional areas, including R&D, Sales, Program management, operations, finance and support teams
  • Shown ability to conduct financial analyses, develop financial models and interpret P&L statements as they relate to the product portfolio
  • Excellent communication skills including oral, written and presentation techniques
  • Global experience is a plus, ability to travel globally approximately 30%

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $176,000.00-$234,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
