Director Development & Special Projects

This key leadership role will be highly visible and engaged in developing community partnerships, engagement and philanthropy to raise the awareness, mission and vision value of Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and Windemere to year round and seasonal residents alike.

Responsible for building the hospital’s fundraising infrastructure and providing professional support to the board and CEO as they confront their need to increase donations to the Hospital in support of their strategic plan and goals.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: · Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

· Ten years of progressively responsible fundraising experience including major gift experience. · Proven track record of success managing and directing a team and/or development operation and playing a leadership role in a capital campaign. · Budget management experience required. · An understanding and commitment to working in a small nonprofit/fundraising environment. · Must have strong prospect research and cultivation skills with the ability to relate to and work with prospective donors and community members. · History working with non-profit Boards and Boards of Trustees. · Must be passionate about the mission of the organization and Martha’s Vineyard. · Entrepreneurial, high energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork and attention to detail; high degree of initiative. · Willingness to work evenings and weekends. · Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated proficiency in public speaking. · Extraordinary talent in working with a broad cross-section of donors, volunteers, corporate and foundation leaders. · Solution and goal-oriented with a proven track record of achieving results.

PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS · Demonstrated commitment to and experience with healthcare. · Knowledge of Martha’s Vineyard. · Donor database experience, preferably Atlas (Blackbaud CRM)
