POSITION OVERVIEW

The Deputy Senior Digital Director should be an experienced, creative, innovative leader looking to be part of a dynamic team. The role will be crucial in leading the longer-term strategic planning and implementation of team goals and priorities, internal alignment, and coordination of special projects for our Digital department. From amplification to production to digital strategy, this role will execute processes across the organization using a digital-first approach. The person who fills this position will work directly with the Senior Director to manage the department team to run and support powerful campaigns that work to make real-world change with and for Black people in America.

Responsibilities

  • Set an inspiring vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Digital Campaigns teams in alignment with the broader strategic goals. This includes leading strategy and decision-making across owned channels to achieve advocacy, membership, and electoral goals.
  • Lead and champion team members – including the direct supervision of Directors – supporting professional development and growth, giving feedback, and ensuring project work is of high quality and high impact.
  • Own the development of strong, longer-term strategic plans for your department. With the direction of and in collaboration with your Senior Director, produce program strategy documents that illustrate strong theories of change and use both proven and experimental online and offline tactics.
  • Oversee digital content, messaging, and production strategy to ensure it's aligned with utilizing email, SMS, digital ads, and social media to communicate to millions of members and partners.
  • Organize and coordinate convenings, team meetings and retreats, and other special projects in order to build out your department's campaign strategy and build the capacity for winning on it.
  • Rigorously analyze data, report the impact of our digital organizing and learn, learn, learn to quickly apply insights.
  • Work with platform representatives, service providers, vendors, and consultants to review progress and identify new opportunities for innovation to achieve program and organizational goals.
  • Support consistent team professional development and growth, giving timely and motivating feedback.
  • Participate actively on your Department Team, and our Campaigns Team to share responsibility in developing an inclusive, learning-based culture that runs campaigns to make real world change in the lives of Black people.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Proven skills and deep experience in strategy, program development, management, organizing, and digital campaigning.
  • Ability to simplify digital tactics and strategies into actionable next steps so team members can take the next steps and understand them.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing programs and strategies for winning digital campaigns, including digital advertising, media planning, acquisition, and advocacy.
  • Strong writing and verbal skills. The ability to communicate information clearly is fundamental to this role, especially via reports, strategy decks, memos, and other strategy-related documents.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. You are confident in interacting with other staff, external partners, organizations, and senior leadership.
  • Top-notch organization skills. There’s a lot to keep track of in this role, and nothing can fall through the cracks. Managing multiple priorities, timeliness, and attention to detail is key.
  • Ability to effectively use a Black/racial justice frame of reference to write strong and persuasive strategic plans and program development materials.
  • Constructive optimism. The work that we do – be it political, organizing, or creative – is all about the art of the possible. While we’re looking to remedy deep structural issues, our progress comes incrementally – a series of wins, some small and some large, that help advance us closer to the systemic change we seek.

COMPENSATION
The salary for the Deputy Senior Director position is $130,000 - $136,500/year. This is a full-time, exempt position. Color Of Change also offers a competitive benefits package.
