SSSD has an opening for a Deputy Operations Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • As a Deputy Operations Lead you will be responsible for helping to organize and synchronize general business operations across six different Operating Units and six Functional Groups within a $300M Business Unit. Work with all OU and Functional Leads to ensure sufficient meetings are in place at the BU Level without impeding operations. Ensure that meetings are planned, prepared, and executed effectively.

  • Assist and facilitate preparation for any Division or BU briefings as required.

  • Assist with liaison work with the Engineering Management Team. Lead/guide that team to ensure that they are in a position to effectively support the BU without impeding operations. Help plan, prepare, and execute a quarterly Engineering Management Team meeting with the BU General Manager. Support the rollout and sustainment of the McKinsey 7S Operations Model for each OU. Help manage BU level Action Item list with BU General Manager.

  • Ensure that all actions are addressed (completed or updated) in a timely manner. Become a knowledgeable user of the Salesforce Strategy and Capture Database. Download and format BU data from this system regularly. Work with the Program Management team to ID programs in Salesforce that are nearing their award dates and facilitate the assigned PM with the PM Homeroom to start the Program Startup Checklist in a timely manner.

  • Assist the Analytics Team to ID staffing needs and hire in an effective and timely manner. Assist Ops Lead to work with all OUs and Functional Groups to perform effective and timely personnel evaluations at the end of the year. Deconflict BU ratings with Functional ratings as needed. Participate in the BU Talent Management Process as required. Work with the Division as well as the OU/Functional Leads to Develop and Update Year End Goals via X-Matrix process with measurable quarterly milestones.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's + 5 years of exp: Master's + 3 years of exp; PhD + 0 years of experience

  • Proven organizational skills.

  • Previous team management and rating/evaluation experience

  • Experience preparing and executing high visibility presentations/briefings.

  • Experience in a Financial or Business Development role

  • 5-7 years of experience

  • Business Degree: Finance/Economics/General Business Undergrad or MBA, if MBA must be from a top 20 school (US News Rankings)

  • US Citizen

Desired Qualifications

  • Commercial business experience

  • Management Consulting experience

  • Military Officer or NCO experience

This position reports to Redondo Beach, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Manhattan Beach, CA, CA, USA.



Salary Range: $123,200 USD - $184,800 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
