Full Salary Ranges:

Level I: $18.16 to $24.33 per hour

Level II: $20.04 to $26.86 per hour


The starting hourly rate: $18.16 at Level I


This position is part of a flexible classification. Employees may move from the Level I - to the Level II once the requirements for experience, education and training have been met as determined by the hiring authority.

DESCRIPTION

A Court Services Specialist I or II performs a variety of specialized clerical work in support of the operations and services of the Tempe Municipal Court; to process, record and file court documentation; to assist the public with court procedures and services, including payment processing; and to provide clerical support to judicial and administrative personnel.


May be required to work extended hours in order to complete overtime projects and to provide weekend/holiday coverage on a rotating basis.


May be allowed to work on a 9/80 flexible schedule after successful completion of initial probationary period (6 months); available days determined by seniority within work group.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience:

Level I: Two years of general clerical experience, including some public service contact, preferably in a court or law office, or one year of responsible clerical or customer service experience in a court.

Level II: Three years of high-level, consistent, general clerical experience, including public service contact, preferably in a court or law office, or two years responsible clerical support in a court. At least one year of this experience must be as a Court Services Specialist I+ with the Tempe Municipal Court. Experience in each division of the Court is preferred.

Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.


Education:

Both Levels:

Requires the equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by additional training in word processing, filing and record keeping, or a degree related to the core functions of this position.

The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).
