What You'll Do

The ideal candidate will be highly organized and willing to adapt to changing needs. The personnel selected for meter repair technician position must have certain traits and abilities that enable them to achieve expected levels of performance. Some of the most important competencies are exercising sound independent judgment and maintaining a high level of customer service.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installation and maintenance of meter hardware and software on-site/field as required.
  • May train people to use the organization's computer system or organize outside training programs, particularly for new software.
  • Provide preventative maintenance for existing on-street meters.
  • Provide preventive maintenance program for existing single space meters.
  • Ensure that all meters cleaned, batteries replaced routinely.
  • Maintain ample parts inventory including domes, batteries, poles, spare housings & locks, mechanisms, etc. to provide immediate replacement
  • Immediately respond to meter repair requests.
  • Maintain meter repair log.
  • Conduct daily check of routes for damaged meters.
  • This position requires the ability to work alone and therefore must exercise proper judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with people.
  • Collect and secure all monies received through single space parking meters and multi-space parking meters.
  • Count collected monies with onsite equipment and prepare deposits for pick up.
  • Coordinate and assist with deposit pick up with the armored car service.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of monies collected from all parking meters.
  • Assist General Manager and office staff with activities related to all coin collection and parking meter related activities. This may include data entry, collating mailings, and providing frontline customer service.
  • Flexibility in working hours is a requirement.
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to operate a motorized vehicle (you will use your personal vehicle for this role)
  • Ability to walk for an extended period of time
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift at least 100 pounds
  • Good problem-solving skills, time management skills, and the ability to work well on their own and/or part of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, listening skills and the ability to understand and explain technical language
  • Flexible, patient, diplomatic, tactful and with high level of integrity

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Move around the property by walking for extended periods of time, sometimes for entire duration of shift
  • Occasionally position self in order to perform maintenance and repair tasks by bending or stooping
  • Perform maintenance tasks by occasionally climbing and reaching
  • Occasionally lift and carry maintenance equipment and machinery, up to 100 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed outdoors for extended periods of time including up to the entire duration of shift.
  • Employees are subject to environmental conditions including extreme heat and cold weather.
  • Protection from weather conditions may be provided, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
