CNC Machinist

Job Details: Setup and operate CNC Machines, including Lathes, Vertical & Horizontal Milling Machines (3,4, & 5 Axis) and Multi Axis Mill-Turn Machining Centers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review Drawings/Blueprints and job routing for Product Specification, such as Dimensions & Tolerances, Tooling & Setup instructions.
  • Mount Work Holding Fixtures and define Machine Work Positions.
  • Secure Cutting Tools in appropriate Tool Holders and define Tool Positions & Offsets.
  • Load CNC Program in Machining Center.
  • Using Safe and Proper Machine Operating Procedures, run first piece, taking measurements and monitoring conditions, as you go.
  • Fully inspect Workpiece, using Manual CMM, Electronic Heigh Gage, Optical Comparator, Micrometer, Bore Gage, Thread Plug & Ring Gages, Go / No-Go Pin Gages, and other Shop Measuring Instruments.
  • When necessary, collaborate with Engineering/Programming Staff, to adjust Program/Process to yield the desired outcome.
  • Monitor and maintain productivity to meet production standard.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly Machine Maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including Coolant, Lubrication, and Cleaning.

    • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.

    Education and/or Experience:
  • Associate Degree or Certificate in Precision Machining Preferred.
  • High School Diploma, with 3 years minimum experience in the Machining Trade.
  • Inexperienced candidates who demonstrate strong ability, will be considered.

Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings/blueprints, job routing, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees within the organization.

Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply. Must have a working knowledge of “Shop Math” and demonstrate the ability to work with 4 place decimals, calculate True Positions and Speeds & Feeds.
Reasoning and Problem-Solving Ability:
  • Ability to apply deductive reasoning and common sense when trouble shooting and working through challenges.
