Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist – 3rd Shift Date: 10/26/2022

Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor

Summary
Hunt Valve, powered by Fairbanks Morse Defense, is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist who can keep up with our fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you will set up CNC lathes according to blueprint and engineering specifications, selecting the appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and material. Materials machined vary from barstock to castings and range from Aluminums & Bronzes to Steels & Stainless Steels, all the way to Monels, Inconels, & Copper-Nickels. During and after machining a product using the CNC lathe, you will check with precision measuring tools to ensure it follows all specifications, making any adjustments as necessary. After machining you will deburr the parts while the next part runs in the machine.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Machine quality parts from blueprints and work orders provided in a timely and accurate manner
  • Select, setup, and align holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines as required
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing Process Engineer to design, develop and aid in the fabrication of fixturing for parts of varying complexity
  • Utilized designated programs making edits at the machines; program at the machine when necessary
  • Work with Engineering and CAM Programmer to develop, and improve CNC programs
  • Efficiently and safely operate machining equipment to machine specified part within specified tolerances (±0.001)
  • Monitor machine progress by checking tolerances, placement of machined areas, etc. by using micrometers, calipers and other measuring and quality related tools
  • Unload finished parts and stage in appropriate areas using overhead cranes and hoists, lifts, etc
  • Act in a manner that results in collaboration, teamwork and respect toward all internal and external contacts
  • Constant exposure to a manufacturing setting
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time in order to operate machines efficiently
  • Must have the dexterity to handle various objects necessary to complete the essential functions
  • Adhere to company Malpractice & Ethics Policies

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; Post-Secondary CNC education is a plus
  • 3-5 years of CNC machine operation
  • Experience with Okuma, Fanuc, and/or Mazatrol controls preferred
  • Experience with Okuma machines preferred
  • G & M code fluency and ability to edit programs
  • High level of blueprint reading required
  • Read and interrupt geometric dimension and tolerance (GD&T)
  • Proficiency with conversational controls is a plus
  • Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to deal with complexity
  • Capable of working in a customer-focused, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Interested in learning with, and from, engineering, and programming team to improve operations
  • Proficient with Shop Math including but not limited to general addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, algebra, and trigonometry

Note: This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.09 - $30.36 per hour
