Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing personal care and homemaker services in the patient's home without direct supervision. This position is responsible for performing other duties as assigned. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with patients and families regarding death and grief issues. Must possess good judgement and be able to identify and relay pain/symptoms and safety concerns to patient's nurse. This position has exposure to body fluids and communicable disease. Majority of time is spent standing and/or walking of short distances (up to 60% of work time), with frequent lifting, pulling and pushing of up to 50 lbs. and lifting of up to 80 lbs. (up to 20% of work time). Frequent local travel is required. Adult population served (up to 99% of time).

Licenses/Certifications Required
Driver's License, Proof of Auto Liability Insurance, CPR

Specific Educational and Skill Competencies Required
Effective communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, as usually demonstrated by successful completion of high school studies, are required. Familiarity with the patient care procedures is required as usually demonstrated by completion of a 75-hour nursing assistant training program or one year of previous experience in a hospital, home health or long-term care facility clinical setting. The nurse assistant must provide their own transportation. Satisfactory criminal background check. Effective listening skills and the ability to cope adequately with death and dying are essential. Must be able to work alone, and have good people skills and judgment.
