Eye Specialty Group is seeking a full-time RN- Charge Nurse to assist in our Ridge Lake Surgery Center. The RN – Charge Nurse is responsible for the smooth and efficient patient flow within the surgical setting. Delegates assignments and serves as a resource for the support staff in accordance with their level of training and the patients’ acuity. Works in cooperation with medical providers to ensure the quality of patient care. The position models, mentors, and provides guidance to care givers by promoting the use of critical thinking, sound judgment, and theory-based interventions to direct clinical practice. The Charge Nurse supports quality and continuity of patient care, collaborates with the upper leadership in the development and implementation of appropriate interventions to meet staff knowledge deficits, utilizes system and unit-based problem solving functions by providing evaluation and identification of essential day-to-day activities, and functions as a patient/family advocate by communicating and collaborating with other health care team members in pursuit of positive patient outcomes.

Essential Skills/Responsibilities:

Trains new staff and serves as a resource for questions.

Provides feedback to ASC Management regarding employee performance, policies, issues and/or concerns.

Assists with scheduling of staff and monitoring of ASC workflow to provide a positive patient experience.

Demonstrates Competency and Professional Responsibility in the Charge Nurse Role.

Demonstrates competency to circulate cases for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric surgical cases. Performs assessment of patients according to the centers policy and procedures.

Maintains professional ethics by adhering to HIPAA requirements. Maintains confidential information acquired concerning patients personal, financial, and medical information obtained at the centers.

Maintains and develops nursing skills through participation in education programs.

Reports to work at assigned times.

Completes annual competency requirements.

Maintains an open line of communication with the centers administration.

Accepts any other assigned duties within their scope of practice to keep the centers’ patient care flowing smoothly.

Adheres to all of the centers’ safety guidelines and their policies and procedures.

Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.

Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians in an outpatient setting.

Maintains current RN licensure.

Maintains BLS and ACLS.

Communicates problems involving personnel, medical staff, patients, families and the general public to the appropriate management personnel.

Assigns lunches and breaks for the staff.

Maintains a good working relationship and effective communication both within the department and with other departments for the benefit of the patient.

Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Promotes competent, quality nursing care in the ASC.

Serves as liaison between patient/family, staff and other health care team members.

Travels to other ASC sites as needed.

Adheres to HIPAA compliance plan.

Communicates externally with vendors, patients, etc.

 Communicates internally with ASC management, staff, and Physicians.

 All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Specifications/Competencies: Education/Experience: Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing and licensed to practice as a nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee; Two to Three years ASC experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience requested. RN required and ophthalmology experience preferred.

Proficiency, or experience, in EMR/EHR software.

Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability to effectively lead in changing environments.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit/stand/walk and talk/hear as the job requires for long periods of time, as well as, stoop/crouch and climb/balance as needed.

Corrected or uncorrected visual acuity in at least one eye of 20/40 or better.

Ability to operate office equipment requiring the use of one hand.

Corrected or uncorrected hearing capacity to enable suitable telephone communication skills.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.


Ability to work in clinical environment with a moderate noise level.
