This is an exciting and unique opportunity with one of our well-established and growing clients in the Wholesale Distribution, Warehousing, and Food and Beverages Industry in the Greater New Haven CT area.

Key Requirements:

  • 10+ Years relevant Finance/Accounting experience with a proven track record of success
  • Previous experience in Wholesale/Warehouse Distribution / Food and Beverages or similar business Ideal
  • Previous Management Experience with Direct Reports Required (Hands-On Approach - NOT Ivory Tower leadership style)
  • Working Knowledge and Experience with Accounting Software - Excellent Computer Skills i.e. Excel, QuickBooks, SAGE ERP etc…)
  • Bachelor’s Degree - Accounting/Finance required - CPA and/or Master’s Degree a plus
  • Excellent time management, organizational, problem-solving and communications skills
  • Commuting Distance to the New Haven, CT area

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for All Financial and Accounting functions and aspects including inventory, audits, general ledger, financial statements, cash flow, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Actively manage, record and report cash flow, monitor profitability, daily cash receipts and deposits and all transactions in the books and records
  • Establish, maintain and monitor sound accounting practices and assure they are followed throughout the organization
  • Manage relationships and all reporting requirements for banking, tax planning, insurance, risk management, government compliance, vendors, and other third parties as required
  • Work closely with Senior Leadership and cross-functional teams including management, HR, warehouse operations, sales and marketing etc…to ensure operational efficiency and excellence, minimize and control related costs and continuously improve reporting and communications
  • Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable/Collections, including supervision of the day-to-day activities and the setting of the policies and procedures
  • Lead and develop staff including hiring, onboarding, coaching, counseling, motivating, training and promoting employees
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement, automation and cost reduction within the department and other departments
  • Negotiate contracts with outside vendors including payroll provider, credit cards, office equipment, etc.
  • Maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems
