St. Charles School, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, is looking for a part-time Certified Teacher to join our dedicated team of teachers, paraprofessionals, behavioral consultants, and administrators for the 2022-2023 School Year. This position is responsible for teaching a multi-grade classroom with a maximum of 10 students ranging from grades 2-5. . Hours are going to be 12 to 3:30 every school day, and this includes prep time and some team collaboration time.
St. Charles School provides academic, social, emotional and behavioral services in a therapeutic setting for male and female students in grades K-8. We are a private provider of special education serving public school students. Our curriculum is non-religious.
With decades of experience supporting child trauma survivors, St. Charles is uniquely positioned to work with children who display challenging behaviors in the typical classroom setting and who have social/emotional issues. We provide a safe and nurturing environment to help students heal, build meaningful connections; and when possible over time, learn the positive behaviors to successfully reintegrate into traditional school environments.
Responsibilities
- Teaches classes at the elementary school level, following the general education curriculum approved for our school.
- May provide specialized instruction, adapting the curriculum to the needs of each student as defined in the IEP
- Evaluates student’s academic progress
- May be called upon to assist the Special Education Coordinator with some Special Education tasks
- Cultivates a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
- The person must have classroom experience and a heart for kids who face challenges, as well as an active NH teaching license for either K-5 or K-8 Elementary education
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from an accredited educational program preferred
