As a carpenter with Western Washington University (WWU), you will support the University’s mission by joining a workforce that is the best in its class, where all employees are treated with equity and dignity. The carpenter works alone and in small teams at a journey level, maintaining and renovating the university's facilities.

Carpenter required qualifications include:

  • 4 years full-time experience working at journey level, including installation and fabrication of doors and associated hardware, framing, and installation of a variety of wall coverings (including gypsum wallboard and plaster).
  • Additional required skills and knowledge:
  • Ability to read and interpret written information and blueprints, as well as perform material take-off/estimating.
  • Able to perform tasks requiring use of respirators (must meet requirements for fit test).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license (or obtain one prior to starting work).
  • Obtain Asbestos Worker certificate within 1 year of employment.
